fascinating interview with Jared Harris (Lane):

Quote : | "Are there any specific challenges to being dead?
Making your eyes go dead, that sort of glassy look. That one, we looked at lots of pictures of people who had hung themselves, the makeup department. There's that weird thing where the tongue sticks out. That's not a makeup thing, you've got to do that yourself. You have to make sure your tongue doesn't twitch. The hardest part was not breaking into a Monty Python song, like, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" while I'm hanging there in the middle of their shot. And they didn't see me. When they literally pushed through that door and saw me hanging, that was the first time they had seen it. They didn't see a rehearsal or anything like that. That was their first look at it, and that was pretty genuine shock on all their faces. They knew, of course, because they had read the script, but those guys did a brilliant job, the makeup department. And they hadn't seen that. " |

From the last Mad Men thread:
Quote : | "Though Weiner is poised to become the highest-paid showrunner on basic cable, we hear that he is objecting to three things AMC/Lionsgate are asking for: integrating product placement into the series, cutting 2 minutes from each episode's running time in favor of more commercials and eliminating/reducing two regular cast members to save money." |

im an idiot, i figured they did a damn good job with a wax dummy or something
I didnt actually think the actor was hanging on the door or being put on the couch
the best thing about that death portrayal, hands down (no pun intended), was the creepy dead fingers balled up
dead fingers freak people out, that was a nice touch 6/4/2012 3:01:38 PM |

What an absolute bummer of an episode
Excited for the Don & Glen hijinks across the northeast corridor spinoff, though

^haha yeah, that took away from the episode for me. it was quite obvious he had no business acting, yet they threw him in there anyway. 6/5/2012 10:19:51 AM |

I dont know i feel it kinda fits...i guess
But i dont think hes gonna have any other type of roles, the kid is not acting lol. I still dont think hes worse than Jan Jones
Im in the minority I actually like glen. It all works for me. But he definitely only has the role because hes Weiner's son. At least we arent bombarded with him constantly
The line about everything turning to crap in the elevator was very forced to me. At that moment i was like "o god now hes actually trying to act" it it seemed like a departure from character to me. Plus that line was completely unnecessary 6/5/2012 10:51:52 AM |

hitfix review of last week's episode hits on what i think about peggy... i can't imagine they'd not keep her as a regular:
Quote : | "— a gesture that starts out sweet and then begins to feel sad and lonely and desperate as he doesn't let go — and Peggy again improvises the perfect line for the moment at hand by telling him, "Don't be a stranger."
And lord, do I hope that Matt Weiner means that, because I don't think I can deal with Peggy being sent off to limbo to hang out with Sal and Hare Krishna Paul. We've followed Megan since she left the agency, but only because she's Don's wife. Does the show have time for, and interest in, setting up a parallel narrative at Teddy's shop? It had better, because even though Moss hasn't been quite as consistently prominent this season as she was last year, Peggy has long since become the series' second most-important character. Once upon a time, she was our point of entry into the world of Madison Avenue; now, she's our bellwether of the changing times, continuing to rise even as Don mostly stagnates. The show needs her, not only because of what her experience says about the period, but because she's such a rich character. " |

hm, I just thought of this..anbd this is why i dont think SCDP is going to get Dow
Don makes the pitch during the meeting with Dow about napalm...when america needs it dow makes it and [b]it works[/i]
do you not think that is in light of Jaguar, which not only does it have the notoriety of being unreliable, but in the very episode it is clearly manifested yet again with the failed suicide in a somewhat heavy handed way for the viewer
given this widely known reputation and it being widely known that SCDP just landed the jaguar account...and with evidence that news travels fast amongst the AD agencies i think this goes directly against the point of Don's meeting in the first place
He once again is throwing an account under the bus in order to get more business. In my opinion, Kosgrove's dad is going to say fuck no because of this. As much as Don says to forget about that letter, he basically does the same thing right to their faces 6/6/2012 5:54:13 PM |

wtf does jag's reliability have to do w/ dow?? 6/6/2012 9:07:54 PM |

nothing actually
the fact that don is a pariah because he threw a client under the bus in the first place and he is doing the same thing kinda leads me to believe that baxter will say no
especially with such a touchy product as napalm
it wouldnt be as big of a deal if they werent already working with another agency, if they see that i dont think theyll jump ship 6/6/2012 10:52:50 PM |

BigHitSunday Dick Danger 51059 Posts user info edit post |
no but its a PR thing the public knows they produce it
its like the public perception of monsanto, GM products are not sold to the general populace
and products that the company sells that have nothing to do with GM have to be sold under alternative branding, despite still being monsanto products

lol thats not impossible, it kinda occured to me while at work
