Evidently Tuomo Ruutu loves starring in commercials (he did a pretty funny Snickers one a while back).

So what are the odds we never see Semin in a Canes jersey?

he'd still be under contract for next season if we don't have one this year

he will play for us, unless he rolls out to russia

highly doubt they miss the season. Abbreviated season similar to NBA could definitely happen though.

It would make for a much more exciting regular season so I'm all for it.

Where have you read that? Not doubting, just haven't seen that confirmed or denied anywhere that I can remember.

I'm almost certain contracts don't/won't roll over, he would need a new contract for 2013-14.

JR knew the lockout was coming and that he wouldn't ever have to pay Semin

Contracts didn't roll over during the last lockout. That's why we only had Gerber for one season on a two-year contract signed in '04. I don't know why it'd be any different this time.

That's what I thought until I realized they don't have a home game until November 4th.

That's one bummer thing about being down here instead of back up in MA. I could really easily go to a Springfield Falcons game, and with slightly more effort, Hartford Whale (Wolf Pack at the time) and Worcester Sharks. Never did catch a UMass game when I was there, but it was always another option.

Fake Edit: So I just looked and totally missed that we sent Skinner down to Charlotte. That's a pretty good move on the organization's part, but I hope it was done at least partially with his consent so there's no ill will of being stuck here if he really wants to be somewhere else. I mean, $67,500...

Canes giving STH a 3% credit, based on any money already paid/deposited. Not much but a nice gesture. I'll take a free $25.

Also, they're not going to take payment 8 out of 8 until lockout over, meaning they probably won't ever have to take it out at all. Not a good sign

^3% interest from now until lockout ends, not 3% credit

Quote :
" In honor of your patience during this process, Season Ticket Holders will be provided with 3% simple interest on the money in your ticket account (accrued beginning September 16, 2012 through the duration of a lockout) which can be used towards additional 2012-13 regular season or playoff tickets, or towards your 2013-14 season ticket renewal"

Checkers home opener is on TWC 520 is about to start. They're off to a solid 6-2-1 start and lead their division.

also, another good thing I saw earlier: if the KHL/Russians want NHL players in the Sochi games, they're not gonna fight returning the players...

I'll follow along in here and keep an eye on the standings, but I'm not getting roped back in just like that. I'm still pissed at these assholes and I refuse to give them a dollar this season.

I'm interested in how much the season ticket sales will suffer. I know more than a few former season ticket holders who decided to switch over to State Basketball tickets this year and who plan to do so again the next few years.

A vast majority of them (if not 100%) have a clause written in that immediately nullifies the contract as soon as the NHL season is announced.

Line predictions? There's a lot of tossups at this point, especially with Ruutu gone. You'd hate to put someone like Boychuk on the checking line or 4th line, but I don't really think he's worth replacing anyone in the top 6.

Tlusty - E. Staal - Semin
Jokinen - J. Staal - Skinner
Boychuk - Welsh - Dwyer
Stewart - Brent - LaRose

Gleason - Corvo
Harrison - Faulk
Pitkanen - McBain

Ward
Ellis

Scratch: Nödl

Also, anyone think the Canes will bother to buy anyone out? I secretly wish they'd buy out LaRose, but I know it won't happen

[Edited on January 7, 2013 at 2:33 PM. Reason : Staal clarification]
