he wasn’t presumed to be a generational talent going into the draft. he turned into one.

Durant was the first freshman to ever be NPOY. He wasn't some developmental prospect.

And yeah defense is important. But Holmgren isn't some all world defender. Especially when he isn't primarily playing center and acting as a rim protector (which is he pretty good at.) As evidenced by his 0 block 0 steal performance today (to go along with his 8 points on 4-10 shooting and no FT attempts) playing mostly as the 4. I mean we know why he's not playing the 5, because Jokic would murderize him, but still it makes him a much less impactful player because he's not doing anything special on D as a 4.

I just remember last year some people thought he should be ROY over Wemby and that is just preposterous to me. There's no way a sane person could actually watch both of them play and think they're anywhere near each other in terms of talent.
