so did they find the exact dumpsite in google street view or something in his cache?
OR was he looking at wider portion of cary that included that area. little bit different, right?
if the former, pretty damming. 4/13/2011 5:36:48 PM |

Quote : | "Chris Chappell, a Durham police detective assigned to the FBI's Cyber Task Force, said that multiple aerial photos were accessed from Google Maps on Brad Cooper's laptop computer at 1:15 p.m. on July 11, 2008, while he was at work.
"It appears to be from the area of Fielding Drive," Chappell said. "It is my understanding (that’s) where Nancy Cooper's body was found."
Chappell said that Brad Cooper's computer files showed that someone searched for the ZIP code 27518 and determined, based on the latitude and longitude, that the center of that area was Fielding Drive.
Through a more in-depth examination, Chappell said, he found that the user zoomed in on the map for multiple views of the area.
"This is from before Nancy Cooper's body was found?" Wake County Assistant District Attorney Boz Zellinger asked." |

Really folks, think about it. If Brad Cooper did kill her, and covered his tracks this well so far, why would he be looking for a dump site on (probably) outdated google maps images from the home computer.
What if the guy who Nancy wanted to "go for a run" with called her up on the 11th and said "lets go for a run tomorrow morning first thing?" Maybe Nancy was on the computer scouting a new jogging route close to home where Brad wouldn't be likely to see her running with another dude. Maybe she jogged out there and met dude, to jog or bwn, and after or during he kills her. He strips her for fear his DNA is on her clothes or person and takes off. 4/13/2011 7:57:16 PM |

OHHHH I thought we were talking home computer here. Gotcha. However, I don't think that is enough to convict him on. Is that the only area he looked at at that time? What else was going on at the same time on his computer? Did he have Whoop Dat Trick playing in iTunes and another browser tab on the wikipedia page for strangulation or something? 4/13/2011 8:20:05 PM |
JT3bucky All American 23258 Posts user info edit post |
no, but his co-workers said they were at lunch at that same time with him...they also have said it was only a total time of 41 seconds and havent gone into detail about what other areas he may have scrolled over. its possible that he just randomly scrolled over it when trying to look at a completely different area but that image history remains. 4/13/2011 8:23:52 PM |

I'd also be interested to know this....
Edit: Just looked at ^ video...the reporter says the google search was for the "exact spot" where her body was found...I thought it was just close to the area. Which is it?
And the judge called out people leaking stuff about the trial on the internet, but that wasn't in reference to the google search thing was it? I mean, WRAL posted that themselves...

Superior Court Judge Paul Gessner is corrupt. Why else would he want to hide what goes on in a capital murder trial behind closed doors? Shameful behavior. He's clearly on the side of prosecutors. Mistrial. 4/13/2011 9:42:54 PM |

it's a shame they won't broadcast the FBI testimony. WRAL makes it sound like he zoomed in on distinct images of the dump site, yet he googled zip code 27618 and was online for 41 seconds during a time when he was known to be having lunch with coworkers. The body dump site is in zip code 27606. If I were trying to figure out where to dump a body, I think I'd spend more than 41 seconds looking in the wrong zip code before making that determination. 4/13/2011 10:17:11 PM |

Could spin that as he was looking for places to search for nancy. Potential running routes.
And in reality, he looked after nancy was fucking dead. Latest she was dumped has been established as being 11am, likely earlier. Why the fuck would you look for a dump site after you pitched the body?
Or am I mixing my days? 4/14/2011 12:32:41 AM |

oh, my bad, thought it was the 11th. Yeah, that's a tough on to explain...
And I have thought he may have done it... I haven't seen anything linking him to the crime, this is maybe about it.
We have one piece of evidence that carries any real weight, despite being circumstantial... I hope the prosecution has more up its sleeve...

not entirely.
if it was tampered with it makes it noncompliant
in addition, if he was just looking at the zip code in general it brings up that part of cary because its like 3 miles from his house...if you were to zoom in on the part near his house and then scroll or do the hand grab thing it could potentially go over that particular area if you were looking for something else thus saving that cache image on your computer when in fact you only had it on your screen for a small portion of time. all depends on the time logs. 4/14/2011 1:31:28 AM |

For all we know he was googling to check out some real estate he was interested in, or directions to a restaurant he planned on trying, or he was just bored at work and dicking around on google. WRAL's coverage sucks and without seeing or reading the exact testimony myself I can't form an opinion on this evidence. 4/14/2011 8:43:08 AM |

Could someone fill me in on the cell phone/laptop ban? Maybe it extends to a internet feed ban as well? As I understand it the judge got pissed that some part of the proceedings was tweeted, but save the undercover agent testimonies the whole trial had been streamed. How is a random tweet going to stir the pot on a televised trial?
I can't imagine the tweet identified an undercover agent. It's my understanding that the only reason they kill the feed is to protect the identity of the person giving testimony, not to hide the testimony itself so I fail to see the problem with the tweet - fully admitting I have no idea what was in that tweet. Must have missed something, hoping I could get the details. 4/14/2011 9:28:15 AM |

I'm not sure what caused the judge to be so anti twitter, maybe because people were talking bad about him so it got his panties in a wad.
WRAL tweeted this a little bit ago:

to me, while suspicious, it isn't damning, to me.
i google map my home area probably 3x a week. Unless the man zoomed in behind the dirt mound where she was found, I don't see how mapping a zip code even remotely suggests guilt. 4/14/2011 10:32:00 AM |

Maybe he was looking for a house for himself? Wasn't he going to sell the house they were living in? Although I think its more likely he just googled something that happened to be in the area4/14/2011 10:34:59 AM |

I thought there was testimony about some weird thing that they would divorce and she would live nearby and work as his nanny. So looking at real estate in a zip code would make sense.
