If Algeria wins, they're in unless England wins.

Slovenia can lose but still make it if Algeria beats US.

It sure will be rewarding if we tie Algeria and proceed to the next round...kinda like in NASCAR how you can win the cup without actually winning a single race...great

What a great day of football:

Game 1: Screwed by an overzealous Ref
Game 2: Screwed by an idiotic Ref
Game 3: Two boring as shit teams

He is sucking it up

It's up to his shitty manager to sub him

I know you only watch soccer once every four years or when the league side you picked from a hat runs deep in the champions league, but Rooney is not an overrated shit striker

[Edited on June 18, 2010 at 4:37 PM. Reason : They're not playing well as a team, to blame that on Rooney is hilarious]

Rooney is world class, obviously. He's also played about 3,274 matches in the past year and got like only eight days off after playing in those matches before training started.

rooney is an awesome player, but he must be hurt or tired or burnt out, because he should have been subbed out. he was walking around out there. no one else was better though, except for maybe the subs.

SHOULDA PICKED ASHLEY YOUNG, CAPELLO

eat shit

yeah the entire team played bad, but rooney was non existent in the first game, and he was nonexistent in this game.

no idea why he wasn't subbed at halftime at least. he was useless.

cool pic for angle context

Depending on the angle that could go either way, though disallowing the goal is kinda bs

in all seriousness, cherundolo is gonna have to be on his best facing up against ziani. im watching the england game right now since i missed it the first time to see where this team might be dangerous. the left side of algeria seems to be the strongest side and thank god for that since the right side of our defense is much better than our left.

this team looks a little quicker than slovenia but i dont think they are gonna be nearly as physical. jozy "should" do well matching up with the center backs. i like gomez to start with him up top and using his off the ball skills to free up others

Wouldn't that be some shit if USA, Germany, and England all failed to make the knockout phase. Had the 3rd goal counted then we would already be through right now.

Now it is on to Africa on the last day of group play. That is always an adventure with the guys on our current roster...

2006 WC: Ghana 2 USA 1 (Eliminated)
2008 Olympics: Nigeria 2 USA 1 (Eliminated)
2009 Confederations Cup: USA 3 Egypt 0 (Act of God Advancement thanks to Italy losing 3-0)

There are guys that played in each of these games on the 2010 World Cup roster.

^It was funny to hear the English announcers complaining about them trying an extra pass instead of a shot. People were on here a few pages ago complaining how the US born announcers are bias and don't talk much about the other team. The English are no better.
