and that's why i usually avoid game threads during the games. just like in life, it's best to not surround yourself with mentally unstable people if you can help it.

sidney lowe was not a terrible coach, he just recruited inherently dumb players who were very talented, but not desperately wanted by any of the other major programs.

cj leslie is one of them. he will never be right because crazy stuff is going on in his head. we will never be consistent because our leaders get in attitude trouble and taken out of the game. harrow was emo. howell thinks he can steal the ball from poin guards 60 feet from the basket.

People wonder why we never show up in chapel hill or other big games.

Warrent and Purvis are mature and their performance proves it wasn't a gott problem or an entire team problem.

I mean, he's not wrong in the aggregate. Sidney was indeed a terrible coach, and other teams wanted Leslie/Howell/Brown, but they are mentally soft guys with low basketball IQ who don't handle adversity well.

You could say the same thing about most OK State recruits, though. Typically they get the "B" recruits aka the guys no one else wants. Remember where JamesOn Curry ended up?

Smart isn't one of those guys but Lebryan Nash certainly is. Unless youre Duke or Carolina you pretty much have to take those players (the other option is to recruit a team of Scott Wood's and Julius Mays') and rely on your coaching to make them right. Gott has done a pretty good job of that so far.

The law of averages is starting to catch up. We seem to have passed the point of no return on being able to say "this was just one bad game early in the season." seeing that we've had only one good game thus far. Michigan will tell all. If we lose by 10 or more, abandon ship. Shitty teams don't magically become good in December. Don't say it happened last year because Georgetown was the only ranked team we beat all year.

There's something going on with this team, and I would think it would have been figured out by now. if not by Gott then by one of the other coaches. Starting to get really frustrated by the lack of intensity and focus by most of the team. Rich was a beast last night though.

A lot of bad things going on.

1. Our defense is laughable. If we play against teams that can shoot at all, we will give up 70 guaranteed. We are not even close to playing high major defense. We don't force turnovers, rebound, stop dribble or close out. We play scout team defense. Teams will run what they want to run and have to have a bad night for us to not give up 70.

2. The wrong guys are shooting. We have little offensive identity (takes us 20 second to get to what we want) and Warren is an NBA player who should be taking 15-20 shots per game until his fg% goes down. We don't even run plays for him and he goes 7-9 or something stupid every game.

3. Played some 2-3 Zone against Beilein. -1000 credibility.

We are playing subpar offense and defense right now with top 10 talent. Terrible coaching.

Agree with the zone. But we and some bad foul trouble. I think we need more ball pressure, but that could lead to more fouls.

I'd say we did just fine on the offensive end. The difference is they have 5 or so Scott woods who can dribble and shit versus our 1 who cant dribble worth a shit

they drained as many 3's on our man D when we played poor help, went under screens, etc

this teams prob is that they cant play team D no matter the set, they are def athletic and talented enough to play an effective zone against almost anyone, just not aware enough

Wood needs to come of the bench. There is also a good chance that an opposing D not having to guard a sharp shooter for 6 minutes will not be ready for Wood to step on the court.
