NO Hell no!

They have no spot on the team. They're good at cyclicing, but they dont' score much. We have so many forwards. No room for them.

is it too soon to start talking about the fomer whalers moving to another city?

i mean, it's quite obvious that the fans will not be coming out for a team that cannot make the playoffs 80% of the time.

No new jumbotron this offseason. Probably a couple years down the line. Supposedly the new sound system could come this offseason, but I have to wonder if missing the playoffs could have any impact on that.

^^we'll be here to laugh when your Wings keep the President's Trophy streak alive by losing to the 8 seed again.

I'm not sure what good it does to bring this up, but fuck it

Quote :
"Forty-three wins. With the exception of the 2005-06 season, when Carolina won a franchise-best 52 games, the Hurricanes’ 43 wins this season was tied for the most in the entire 28-year National Hockey League history of the franchise. And before you try to qualify it by saying the numbers are skewed because of the shootout, Carolina won just two shootouts this year. Even if you take those away, the 41 wins remaining would be the third-highest win total in the team’s history, behind only 2005-06 and 1986-87.

The only thing skewed about it is that 43 wins will likely be one win too few for the Hurricanes. In a world without shootouts, the Hurricanes would sit even with the Montreal Canadiens for the most wins in the Eastern Conference, with 41. More non-shootout wins than the Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins or anyone else in the East."

There is also a HF Boards thread that has been ongoing for some time in regards to the standings system the league uses. There are 10-15 alternate methods proposed by board users, and they have tracked the standings all season using those. In every single method except for this one the league actually uses, Carolina makes the playoffs.

I want 2pt regulation/OT win, 1pt for a tie after a 10 minute 4 on 4 OT

a 3-2-1 regulation-OTW-OTL/SOL would just be penalizing teams for playing a good game

Or, as I said on HF, rewarding teams for shutting down the game in the third period to get that guaranteed point.

Lottery about to be in a few minutes. We have a .5% chance of winning and moving up to the 10th spot. There is a 62% chance that Steven Stamkos will be coming to the Southeast in the form of Tampa Bay or Atlanta.

I don't follow prospects like I used to. How good is this Stamkos supposed to be? Who do they compare him to?

That'd be a hard job to give up. With as large a fanbase as Toronto has, if Richardson went there and won a Stanley Cup like he did here, he'd be recognized as a legend.

If Jerry Richardson went to Toronto and won a Stanley Cup, then I would be pretty god damn impressed. Hopefully he can get us a Super Bowl first, though.
