the "numbers" were on the vaccine bottles they used to give Claire her shots
Henry Gale was sent by the others to get a better "list" and to see how the losties are living, since Ethan didnt get a complete list (they talked about this list during Claire's flashback)
Gale is trying to cause inner turmoil between the losties by playing into Locke's emotional nature. Locke could be falling for it, or he could be just playing Gale since he is fairly smart and good at mind games 3/2/2006 11:45:26 AM |

i just cant see locke not being smart enough to know what Gale is trying to do.
I am hoping Locke was just pissed that he realized Gale was up to something and is probably an other and wants him out of his hatch pronto 3/2/2006 12:51:45 PM |

Speaking of which, why was Jack on button duty? I thought he told Locke in the last episode that he didn't want anything to do with that. 3/2/2006 2:43:03 PM |

hatch != civilized
hatch = torture, secrecy, distrust, and mystery.
The hatch is the closest they've come to understanding the island, and thats definatley not civilized. 3/2/2006 3:06:14 PM |

This isn't something that has anything to do with the plot (it's not a clue or anything)...
But is it just me, or does it seem like bad writing that they are stranded on an island with very little supplies, and there's Locke scraping an entire plate of food into the trash? Lets try and conserve the resources a little better there guy. 3/2/2006 3:29:47 PM |

i think there's a point to that
like in their minds they are back in the real world where that type of behavior is normal, almost like in their heads they arent even stranded on an island 3/2/2006 3:32:26 PM |

It could have just been an oversight by the director . . . they wanted Locke doing something in the scene and told him to do that without thinking. 3/2/2006 3:46:51 PM |

ABC needs to take a lesson from FOX and 24 on how to present a serial television series. Its one thing to have a a period of reruns during the season, but now its almost every other week is a repeat. Easy way to tell if its a repeat next week, if the preview doesnt start with "Next week..." but rather something like "Coming up...", its at least a week without a new episode. 3/2/2006 10:02:55 PM |

maybe i expect too much, but i dont see much downtime in this show where the director is just like "ok do something to kill some time"
i still think thats there for a reason

for them it's mentally civilized, at least for locke

locke now has a job on the island
he waits and presses a but evey hour and a half
its much more civilized (conditional) than waking up everyday asking yourself "hmm, how far am i going in the jungle today and what will i find??"
he no longer has to go out and look for stuff to do, its right in front of him3/3/2006 8:17:13 AM |

one of my favorite parts of this show, and what intially attracted me to it and kept me watching, were the flashbacks to their "pre-flight" lives and how that tied in with what was going on on the island
this episode had no "pre-flight" flashbacks and for some reason, it seemed like a different show, which kinda irked me a little bit 3/3/2006 11:57:52 AM |

-what happened to Claire while kidnapped
someone help me out here.. 3/3/2006 3:36:18 PM |

what happened to claire?
because they didn't really tell us
they just showed they took her to a hatch and injected her with some stuff
but we don't know what they really did to her...
Quote : | "this episode had no "pre-flight" flashbacks and for some reason, it seemed like a different show, which kinda irked me a little bit" |
there was nothing more about pre-flight claire that we need to know
there's probably a lot of pre-flight stuff that isn't important
the only things important are the things there haven't explained
and so long as we keep caring about wanting to know those things, they're going to keep stringing us along
