haha. damnit. Used rsdlite to restore back to 2.0.1 and updated to froyo. Did a factory reset and now I have don't have data and can't make calls. Guess I have another reason to call and bitch at verizon.

There's been 4 reports on android central in the past 2 days of people getting Droid 2's as replacements so we'll see. Apparently the Droid is backordered forever.

If your phone is rooted go to the market and buy Droid X Bootstrap (or grab it for free from koush's website), install that, run the bootstrap, make sure you can boot into recovery (and backup your rom while you are at it). Then download the latest ROM Manager from the market. Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. Go to download rom and then stock images and there's only one option there. If you removed any of the bloatware you'll have to reinstall it before updating.

If you aren't rooted and don't want to root contact me and I'll upload the update.zip for you. It's pretty much been taken down everywhere after Motorola carpet bombed the internet with cease and desist letters. But you are better off using the option above as that version is already deodexed, rooted, busybox'd, etc.

Declined the OTA incredible update to 2.2.

Instead, I decided to go the rooted 2.1 to rooted 2.2 route using the RUU. Took me about three hours last night, and everything is beautiful.

Benchmarks more than doubled.

I'm running Birdman's first DX rom FlyX v0.1. It's pretty awesome. Basically the 2.2 leak but without all the bloat and some performance tweaks. Also comes with the R2-D2 notification tone from the R2-D2 droid2 which was pretty weird to hear the first time.

They announced it (streaming music & new online version of market) at Google I/O this year, I assumed since they talked about it under the pretense of 2.2 that it was coming sooner rather than later, but IIRC they mentioned Q4 of 2010 or Q1 of 2011 which would coincide with 3.0

hmm...I thought my other droid got hot but the replacement gets to the point where it will almost burn you after 15 minutes of web browsing on 3G. Hit 130F on the battery. Wifi disconnect issues are still there so guess it's time to bug verizon.

Someone at work got the Epic from Sprint a few days ago and she let me play with it for a few minutes today.



It was nice. Very similar form factor to my Moment, but larger (but about the same weight). It was VERY smooth compared to my Moment, but it being a generation or two later probably helps with that.
