I may have posted this earlier, but it bears repeating. A unc alum friend of mine tried to convince me that it was State's best interest for unc to win the ACC. Obviously since we suck and they are on the verge of greatness, it would help us in recruiting to play up a rivalry against the conference elite.

For the love of god, please let the NCAA destroy these people.

damn, just because IC promised you guys some shit happening a couple of days ago and it didnt happen doesnt mean its time to mail it in. these are serious allegations. the usc shit didnt all come about in a month. the NCAA isnt going to slap some shit together and throw it out there just to have something out there...there is proof of agent interaction, and the top people at unc are admitting to academic problems.

It's generally hard to pin agent interaction on a coach/school. It obviously happens, but IMO it shouldn't harm the school unless there is CLEAR evidence it happened known to the HC/AD and the NCAA is really random with how it enforces it (see Piggie, Myron) despite very similar circumstances.

The academic issue is the thing that seems systemic to UNC and more damaging IMO.

Apparently no one learned any lessons from the basketball coaching search so let me lay the steps out:

1) "Insiders" (who by the way don't know anything more than you or me) dangle scraps of supposed "inside information" just to chum the waters and whip everyone into a frenzy, partly because it's good for business and partly because those guys get off on the power trip (mostly because they get off on the power trip).

2) You people hang on every word waiting for the bomb to drop any second and then days go by, and then weeks.

3) Nothing happens, you start to feel duped and wonder why you've been clicking refresh every 30 minutes for the last two weeks.

4) Finally, much later, you learn the news at the same time as everyone else when it comes out in the N&O or on ESPN and it tastes like cheap hamburger meat compared to the filet mignon the "insiders" had promised you.

Moral of the story, go on about your life the waiting game is for suckers.

Here is the scenario I'm most afraid of happening (not likely to happen, but its what I least want to happen):

Ruling will come out that all those players will serve a one-game suspension and that the LSU game wouldn't be able to count as that game. The game they determine will serve the suspension will be NC State. So when we beat them for the 4th year in a row, bragging about it won't be fun, because their fans will constantly respond with "you beat a team with none of its starters, way to go!"

Then again, all the talk about their 2nd and 3rd strings being better then the top of the SEC might equal that out. Who knows.

eh I almost always follow that philosophy, but this time, a couple of those guys have made several statements well before the media reports proved them to be correct. Brakk and waffle or whatever their names are.

They definitely have some sort of direct connection to someone deeply involved with this.

Camby was in no danger whatsoever. He was already a rookie making bank. Cal was busy making moves himself. The only parties that stood to suffer with Camby was the institution itself, UMass. The UNC players running hogwild to every corner of the United States on someone's else's dollar and then bragging to the world about it via twitter makes Camby look like Einstein for several reasons, including Camby being a professional before they knew the first thing. I also doubt Camby got served a subpoena.
