But on a serious note, there was one girl there doing a really baller kick. Roundhouse kick, turn, roundhouse kick, turn, then jump and do a double kick (I'm not sure if that's the right terminology, but it was pretty sweet)

Yeah I LOVE it! I haven't been this excited about something in a long time, workout wise. Instead of feeling like I was just doing something to keep in shape I feel like I'm having fun with it and not thinking of "omg I need to lose x amount of weight."

I'm not sure when I can move to the next belt - I saw a sign that on August 19th Master Lee will be conducting belt promotions... I don't think he would let any of us newbies go up that fast though. He specifically said you need to learn the basics for weeks before being promoted (which makes sense seeing as this is the foundation of everything we learn)

I won't tell you why. Your punishment is to figure out how you are dishonoring our fallen and those who have served.

You know what's really sad? I actually thought to myself, "Watch maximus come in here and rain on my parade." What is wrong with you? Why do you have such a stick up your ass? Or better yet, why do you have this innate need to want to be a complete prick to people for no reason when you yourself have no room to talk and make yourself look like a buffoon all over this board?

So, I will ask you AGAIN since you seem to be avoiding it:

I thought you were done posting ITT??

Stick to the body building thread like you claimed you would, and leave us alone.

You are my inspiration to perfect my crescent inside kick.

Quote :
"What does everybody consume post-workout? I used to swear by muscle milk back in the day but Consumer Reports found that the recommended serving had more traces of heavy metals like lead and arsenic than are recommended for a daily allowance.

I've been doing a grilled cheese and a couple pints of milk because it's cheaper anyway

"

chxn - 130 cals (cleannnnnn, yayyy)
3 8oz cups of milk - 390 cals (carbs, fats)
3 scrambled eggs ~ 230 cals (fatttssss)
nitro tech - 130 cals (low carbs, low fats)

personally, i find myself using protein powder to find an easy way to supplement protein, immediately after a workout and with as little carb load as possible.

i tend to workout quasi-fasted (either about 7 hours, or as much as 12) with just a little carb jolt preworkout, then eat afterward. this is the case for afternoon workouts, but the way i cook and end up doing other things around the house i often end up not eating for one to three hours after working out. hence, the ease of a powder scoop in water right as i get home.

if i lift at 5am i'll most likely not eat breakfast. i'll go home, run the dogs, shower, go to work, eat some cottage cheese or something at like 9. on mornings i do this though, i'll usually go with casein protein, as it clumps up and keeps me feeling full until i feast at lunch.

i plan on migrating into leangains in the near future though. it's a little different. i'm not looking forward to the first few days of transition and keep putting it off

idk why i wrote this, but that graphic kinda irked me... sure clean, whole, natural protein sources are ideal, but when you're trying to get to a certain protein goal while maintaining your macros and not going over your caloric deficit, getting protein with liters of milk and grilled cheeses is pretty counter productive (this is of course unless you're trying to bulk).

In the past year I've switched to a mostly vegetarian diet. In other words I eat vegetarian for all my normal meals but still eat meat here and there when I go out to grab dinner with friends or something a couple times a month.

I also stopped using Optimum Nutrition (which is what I had used for years) because of the MSG.

Now I use a custom blend from True Protein that is 50% non-gmo pea isolate and 50% non-gmo rice protein. MSG-free and it uses Stevia for the sweetner.

^If you don't mind would you post up some of your meals that are high-protein vegetarian. Especially stuff you might eat for lunch at work or maybe a few of your favorite dinners

^^As far as protein goes, whole wheat bread and organic peanut butter + something else (honey or some sort of jam) sandwiches a lot at work for lunch plus almonds for one of my snacks. I also have peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast a lot at work. On the weekends I have eggs for breakfast usually both Saturday and Sunday.

As far as my dinners at home, I usually have Seitan (wheat-meat) with a lot of my meals. Gardein makes great meat substitutes using Seitan. It isn't really trying to taste like meat but the texture works like a meat in a pasta or rice dish if that makes sense and it tastes very good. My wife also uses a lot of Quinoa, soy beans, lentils, broccoli, brown rice and other foods to get protein in my diet.

Sorry, I know that was really generic. As far as specific meals, if you really want some I can ask my wife later since she makes all my meals I know a lot about what is in them but wouldn't know to tell you specific complete meals that I love.

I used to never think I could do this and keep up my active lifestyle and lifting the same due to some mental block and misconceptions. My wife is vegan and always bought and made me whatever I wanted even when I wasn't eating vegetarian. However, now I've switched to mainly vegetarian and I have had 0 problems maintaining and gaining strength-wise and perform just as well in all the sports I play (ultimate, volleyball, and soccer).

Now, I am not attempting to get as ripped as I might have been in my wrestling days, but at the same time I am not shying away from lifting hard. I'm still doing multiple sets of 12 wide grip pull-ups, benching 150% of my bodyweight etc.

Dear Chicago,

I leave you now, probably significantly heavier than I was when I arrived. No hard feelings though, it's my own fault. But at least I walked a mile and a half before getting that milkshake today.

I did turbo kick yesterday and my calves, inner thigh, and ass have been REALLY sore today. That makes me really happy but I have decided I am a plain old kickboxing type of girl instead of the kick and punch with choreographed dance moves type of girl. I LOVE the complete follow through of my kicks and jabs and upper cuts and cross punches and etc...that I don't feel I get completely with turbo kick.

it ask your weight and height and well that's why its important to know what your target heart rate is to see how hard you are working.

here is the link if you click full features it tells you everything http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products/improve_fitness/fitness_crosstraining/FT40

I just know its helpful when you are doing cardio to see what zone you are working at.

I like it. I've had it for 2-3 years now.

I use the heart rate monitor to pace myself when running.

I use the stopwatch to pace myself when lifting.

Every few months I'll count calories for a couple of weeks. Then I use calories burned to help estimate my daily required calories.

I have the foot pod, but I've never used it.

I don't know if I'd put much faith in the calorie counter on those things. From what I've read they're probably about 25% off. If mine says I burned 500 calories during a workout I'll just assume it was in the neighborhood of 375-400 usually. And I'll never understand how the elliptical machine at the gym comes up with 700+ calories for the same workout.

I trust my watch more than I trust the equipment because my watch has information the machines don't.

In any case, I've always understood the calorie counters to be similar to the electronic body fat measurements: good for trending, bad for values.

Well an hour of spin = 750 calories burned. RPM high of 179.

I think its fairly accurate, there is a spin expert in my class and he knows a lot HRMs and I talked to him after and said ya...he burns 1000 a class.

Calories I like to know but not my top concern, it was nice seeing where my HR was b/c it held me accountable to how hard I was pushing myself.

I always assume that it's best to consider all calorie counts as estimates.

Calorie Counts at the Gym = Vary Based on Weight/Muscle/Intensity
Calorie Counts at Restaurants = Often Vary From the Posted Nutrition Info

It's generally best, IMO, to not aim for a specific number of calories consumed/burned. Measure yourself/weigh yourself regularly and pay attention to how your clothes fit and you're probably fine.

I always get annoyed comparing my calorie allotment to my bf's. He burns almost twice as many calories during the same workout.
