haha pilgrim that is hilarious, that same stuff happens all the time is stud8, i mean sometimes i will spend like 3full minutes trying to figure out the mindset of these people, then i realize they are just gonna call to 5th or 6th anyway to see if they ahve any sort of draw for 7th, it's funny

ok this hand just happened to me in a 1/2 limit game

holding AA, hand improved every time

flopped a set, turned a boat, rivered 4 of a kind

won a ~$28 pot. only got one raise in there after the flop. how would you maximize that? i hate limit.

well im really only playing very good starting hands, cause im just trying to clear a bonus, and 1/2 is really above what my bankroll allows for (but i need the $10 pots for points) but ive been seeing people win 15 dollar pots pretty consistantly with ace high and shit

plus betting got capped between me and the other guy (KK) at first, so there was about 12 in the pot before the flop.... only got it up about 16 more bucks afterwards. got scared to check cause i figured he would check too.

Ok heres the set up:

Turner, you may know the culprit in this hand, hes a rather well known player around these parts these days. Somehow this guy makes his living playing in home games and at other places that spread larger games around town. Mike Q.

IF you have played with him in the past, you realize that hes a very interesting player to play with. Some nights he'll show a couple of huge bluffs early and then feed off that image all night picking off pots here an there where you think he has air again. He also will not hesitate at all to call your large raise with garbage, for obvious reasons. I have the hardest time putting him on a hand ever, out of any of the regulars at this game. We talk alot about the game, and feel as if we are probably two of the most solid players at the table. He for some reason has a read on me being one of the tightest players to play in this particlar 1/2 no limit game. That's one of the reasons that this hand just boggles me.

Tonight he had been talking about how the past 8 days have just been whipping his ass. He developed this odd quirk tonight that he started flipping over his top pair card when he bet, in order to "show them they should fold." Interesting strategy, but no one really exploited it all night. It appeared as if he may have gotten lucky tonight, or no one had the balls to throw a huge raise at him when he would pull this stunt. I had only tangled with him in a few hands throughout the 2 or 3 hours I had played my session tonight.

Our previous tangle went like this:

I had only been in the game for about 2 orbits, but had already been busted on a KK vs KQ when the KQ checkraised me all in on a queen high board. You see where that went. So he may feel as if i am tilting a bit, but im sure he still sees me as capable to play the "solid as shit game" that he seems to put me on. The game was loose, and I was able to limp in the co with a J8o, to a 7 handed limped pot. Im sitting with about 150, hes got about 300. flop comes K J 3, suits unimportant. Checked around all 7 players. so there is $14 in the pot. Turn is a brick 4, putting two spades on the baord, i have no spades. I bet out $14, and he the two between us fold, and he checkraised $28 more to $42, from the BB. I just flat call, after everyone else had folded. The river is a 5, and he checks, I throw $50 in, and he goes all in. I realize that Im pretty much committed, but I dont really like the concept of being pot committed when im going to rebuy anyways, so I fold. He turns over A2 for the wheel.

Now I show the jack, and he is stumped that I would make that call with the jack. "you are supposed to lay that down, esp. you" etc etc....

So thats hand #1.

The interesting hand happened about 3 hours later, when I had announced that I was goig to leave in 1/2 hour, which at this point was in about another 5 minutes.

At this time, I have about $500 in front of me, and he has about 450. He is in the BB again, and im in the co again. ironic setup.

Another limped hand around for the $2, so I limp with another J8o. Continues to limp see the flop for 6 handed and $12 in the pot.

flop comes Qc 3s 8c

now he flips over the 3c and bets out $24.

wtf is going on here?

folds around, there is no one behind me, its just me and him now, and ive got position for the rest of the hand.

what is your line, what do you put him on, what do you say, and what is your action in this pot?

i think what I did really surprised him, but i think that what he did on the turn surprised me even more.

ill post the rest when a few of you guys respond to this, or tommorow night.

blargh

If that does indeed turn out to be 33 (as is my thought) something similar happened to me, our general rule in cash games is if theres a misdeal and a card is shown, you can make the choice to keep it. I was given a 3 that was flipped face up in the bb, decided to keep it just for the hell of it and ended up with another 3. Flop came 378 rainbow and I was lucky enough to pick off the small blind who thought he had a winner with his 83. But yeah - my guess is he has 33.. would like to see the action on the turn though.

If Q's playing smart (and yeah I know Q - I'm staying with him at the Borgata soon for the Winter Open), he's would do that with 33 and nobody would suspect it... but if he's playing stupid, he's got A3 of clubs. All depends on how things are going for him at the time.

First of all, he shouldn't be able to expose one of his cards while there are other people in the hand. Heads-up, that's fine.

Second of all, his wife is hot as shit.

That is all.

i hear ya kol, keep playing the play money till you get 5 million on stars, then youll be ready to move up to the 50 cent tournaments like i did

took it to the next level tonight and played $5 mtt, got 27th place. got down to 3 tables left and i went ahead and made a move with JJ and got put all in by a dude with AK. he won, of course. but top 45 took home some loot so im ok with it i guess

ok, my worst bad beat ever

sit and go tourn. 4 left, 2 guys have been goin allin a LOT and showing AJ, AT, etc. Get dealt QQ. Guy goes allin, I call, other loose cannon calls. QQ vs JJ and JJ. I am 96% to win preflop. There is domination, and then there is this.

flop: 783
turn: 10
river: fucking 9

jack high straights for the 2 loose cannons

so instead of being heads up with a huge stack playin for the big prize, i bubble out

This shit always happens to me online, whenever I have the better hand preflop and go allin I always get fucked......but hey, thats poker

would have vaulted me back into second. Very frustrating b/c two breaks ago I had over 450k. went totally dead again at the wrong times.

previously had another 800k pot go the other way with A9 vs A7 on a Q97 board, get all in and he nails another 7.

that really blows

the remainder of that hand will have to wait.

6 hours of good poker followed by that garbage has totally drained the hell out of me.

Same thing happened to me online awhile back, had JJ, sitting at a 2/4nl table, Got about $500 in front of me, raise it to $25 preflop, get reraised to $75, I put the guy all in, he has about $600 in front of him, he calls me with 66, the board comes 2345 and I dont even remember what the river card was, it didnt matter. He said he only called because he figured it would be a race. Now dont get me wrong, I might do it too, but not for like $500.

Im in the Bobblehead freeroll on Absolute, the winner gets a Mark Seif bobblehead. I have been trying to win one for months now. 1500 people in it, 52 left and I am sitting on 80K, chip leader has 214k, avg is 43k. I really want this fucking bobblehead, it has almost become an obsession. But actually, I really want 2nd place, which is an Absolute Poker golf shirt. Hopefully I can make the final table atleast, the top 5 get prizes.
