I love my PS3. comes with so much already built in, like big hard drive, wireless access, blu-Ray player, DivX player (I use ALOT), free to play online. PS3 hands down is a better piece of hardware.

I just bought Heavenly Sword for about ~$27 with the Edge card. All I know is that it is a very short game based on what I read when it came out. So far it looks pretty fun. It's a button mashing God of War like game.

before ps3 dropped i was going to get one because i love all the gran turismo and msg games, among others, plus GTA used to be a sony exclusive for a year, but my ps2 crapped out too many times and i made the switch...PS3 graphics are sick nasty good though

the E3 list doesn't have too much on it that i'm really thrilled about. Partly, i guess i've outgrown most videogame genres like the zany platformer and puzzle games and i never was big into button smashers (God of War, Devil May Cry) to begin with.

in order of my care:

* microsoft announced an exclusive partnership with netflix (which i wanted for PS3 )

* square announced that FFXIII will be released on the PS3 and 360 simultaneously (i bet that knocked some of the wind out of sony's sales)

* 360 getting a new interface overhaul that's coverflow-ish

* games can now be stored on the HDD to save load time

* exclusive downloadable content for games (fallout 3, etc.) - not like this is new

I think MS had a fantastic E3 so far, no doubt about it. They're taking great steps and I like what they're doing. THey stole alot of thunder to be honest.

Curious as to Nintendo's PR today but honestly they have this gen sewn up and are making so much cash you can bet it won't be anything crazy. Likely Animal Crossing Wii and Zelda. I'd prefer them set a CONCRETE date on no more friends codes /overhauling online system but fat chance on that.

That's not to say Sony won't have a good show. But they have the toughest road to hoe and that's unexpected before today to me. What they'll need to do is concentrate on selling Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, NEW IP or GAMES (Naughty Dog?), show Pixeljunk EDEN (they are a great developer), freaking release details on Home (even though I still think the idea is stupid), etc. Also a price cut would be pretty neat for those prospective buyers.

It won't be long before they have rentals on PSN, and it wouldn't take much for Sony to roll their own subscription based movie streaming (since they own one of the largest movie studios).

yeah, the Netflix thing has the potential to be huge. Sure, Sony's a major studio and could implement a streaming system--although haven't we read in the past about infighting between divisions of the company? Netflix already has a streaming service and infrastructure in place.

Games stored on the HDD is an interesting twist--seems like it's a workaround for the systems that don't have HDDs, so that developers can now offer the option of an full install where they would've just given smaller mandatory ones if every system had built-in storage. May or may not result in significant performance gains over PS3's smaller installs, depending on the game. Still, it's a nice option.

Hope Sony's got something big up their sleeve for today...

Actually not so much. Only some PS3 games have an option where you can choose how much data will be copied to the PS3's hard drive (such as Virtua Tennis 3). The data varies by game. by no means standard.

What I'm guessing at least by the 360's announcement is that it is an option for any game a la. PC gaming - regardless of title. However I don't see why Sony couldn't follow suit after MS or by the time MS implements this themselves.

Great idea, regardless of platform.
