I'd love cotchery. But he's not the answer at WR. Definitely a solid #3 option...he proved that in PIT last year. But we'll need more than him

If we had 3 or 4 Cotchery type receivers we'd be fine

I don't know if that means they've been talking or what, but maybe it'll work out

James Jones, Cotch, and a first round WR (Cooks preferably) would be a very solid WR core -- arguably better than last years.

If McNutt or King step up and give us another weapon, that'd be nice.

ew. I was hopeful and upbeat going into FA, but damn.

we're being linked to britt now. wonder how the meeting with cotchery went?

there's really nothing left but injury concerns, head cases, and WR4s

It's all good. The Kraken is switching to WR while Greg Hardy plays DE.

Don't know what the hell gettleman ' s plan was going into free agency, but I find it hard to believe this was it. The offense will be putrid next season

Assuming they end up signing Cotchery & Britt and then they draft a pair of WRs like Benjamin & a more mid round guy like Abbredaris or Moncrief, would that really be so much worse than Smitty, Ginn, Lafell & Hixon?

I know Panthers fans love Smith & all, but if the Panthers land those guys (or guys similar), those quartets don't look miles apart to me

Busta McNutt is a stud. He's our secret weapon - let the suckers take our old corps.

Looks like all the offense is going to have to come from Newton & Stewart next season.

the past two weeks haven't been ideal, but it's ridiculous to assume that our roster will look anything like it does now in September

it's kind of why offseason hype is a bit silly

Our offense was bottom 10 in the league last year too, so there's that.

Bring on Britt at this point.

Gettleman's plan is to get out of the cap hell that hurney left us in. That means paying your stars but not overpaying for mid level talent. Lafell and Ginn are replaceable. Smith is more suited for the slot than a #1 guy at this point. I'm glad he paid hardy to keep the d-line solid. Still have a number of holes that need to be filled in the draft and with veterans willing to take a 1 yr deal later in the offseason. Have to have a long term plan in place, stick with it and not overreact. Glad Hurney's out and Gettleman's in.

^that's all well and good, but we won the division last year, have a great core of players, and should be competitive for a while. we're not the next dynasty or anything, but the lack of any improvement/addition at WR is concerning. your perspective isn't wrong, if it were this time last week. just look at our options on the table, it's disgusting.

^^ what options?

We have no money. That means we can't overpay in the first wave of free agency. Where exactly do you think the cap space is going to come from to sign those guys?

GETTLEMEN WAS GOING TO THRIFT SHOP THE ENTIRE TIME

I can't grasp how this is a surprise to anyone. We were always going to have to take our lumps from what Hurney left behind. Yes, we had a good season last year, and this one will be a good one too, but we have to sort out our financial foundation before taking the next step.

If we went out and signed a couple of these overpaid guys to placate the angry fans, but then couldn't resign Cam/Hardy/Kuechly in the next 3 seasons, this same pitchfork crowd would go atomic. Step back and look at the big picture instead of living in the day to day of FA like DG is bumbling idiot that is missing out on all these "great" players.

Just give the man time to work! If we go into fall camp with no WR's, THEN get pissed.

They should have just waited until week 2 to have the surgery and then tank for the #1 pick. It's already a lost year.
