Obama actually lost to another black guy during a run for congress in Chi in 2000, and the chicago "political machine" was against him during his state senate run. It was only after he lost a primary that he had to meet with some of their people and got their endorsement.
It looks like YOU need to do some research, although its obvious you only care about talking points and partisan hackery, so i'm guessing you probably will stick with your delusions.10/22/2008 2:26:36 PM |

This is so laughably false, it's amazing you believe it.
The media is solely responsible for Joe the Plumber, which is McCain's biggest attraction right now. Who do you think is interpreting "spread the wealth around" as Obama being a secret commie? Hell, who do you think it was that first started rumblings about Obama's upbringing in a "madrassa"? Not to mention Wright, the several times Ayers has cropped up, attacking Obama's wife, and asking him if his calm and coolness has anything to do with him being black.10/22/2008 2:29:46 PM |

Obama had to take out a second mortgage to fund his senate campaign while working as a professor, if he was financed, they did a terrible job of it.
Obama didn't come to Chicago on purpose, it was by chance that the only community organization that responded to him was in Chicago. 10/22/2008 2:34:03 PM |

^^^^^^ ^^^ Besides that, people watch the news they agree with in the first place. People seek out news sources that reinforce their own existing opinions and constructs. This is done because cognitive dissonance is uncomfortable. Even in cases where people do watch news they disagree with, it's not likely to change their mind. I posted about this in the fox news thread a while back. The fact that their are conservative news outlets, even if there are fewer of them, means that the liberal or conservative bias of a particular outlet is meaningless on the whole. People simply shift their attention to a source they find comfortable or they become more entrenched in their existing opinions in response to the compatible or incompatible facts they absorb.
This is why Fox News's conservative perspective is a brilliant move from a business standpoint. As the only major news network with a decidedly conservative perspective holistically, they almost can't help but be the highest rated cable news channel. The third of Americans whose views are inconsistent with the more liberal leaning news outlets can't help but feel more comfortable watching Fox News. It's no wonder they flock to it. It is also not something I am in any way suggesting is a bad thing. Watching news that you consistently even disagree with- even if only on tone- is like playing in a band where the jackass next to you is always 14 cents flat. I sometimes wonder if Murdock has Hari Seldon tied up in a secret torture chamber deep underground in the Australian Outback.

^I really really wish he had picked someone else. If he felt he had to pick a religious conservative I wish he had picked huckabee. The same people who love Palin for how her religious views mirror their own would have loved huckabee just the same. More religiously degenerate folks, such as my self, still like the guy for some bizarre reason and would not have been quite so scared off by him.
I wonder, would he have been better off now if he had chosen Tim Pawlenty, Joe Liberman, or Mike Huckabee instead of Palin? 10/22/2008 5:07:16 PM |

Well one of the presidents duties is to act as head of state and serve as the figure head for the US....
You do not think the president has all the knowledge and time to micromanage and create every policy to which administration executes???
Bush was not in my opinion a bad president because of anything he may have particularly did.... He was a bad president because of the screw ups, scandal, and bad decisions made by his advisers and secretaries that had the responsibility to run his administration. 10/22/2008 5:33:09 PM |

As much as I see with the polls moving to Obama's favor I just have a weird feeling when it comes down to election day:
When that curtain closes or people are standing there in that booth - no matter how much they have talked about Obama being the man for the job it's going to be another thing for life long Moderate Republicans to actually vote for a Democrat.
You are always going to have your Republican - Frat boy, Tahoe driving, Lab owning, Ducks Unlimited, Rainbow wearing, Croakies rocking, Sperry havin' base that will vote straight ticket no matter what.
Same can be said for the Democrats.
But - In my opinion its the moderates on both sides and the independents that are the ones in this election that are all over the map and most unpredictable - poll or no poll. 10/22/2008 5:33:32 PM |

I went to the football game a few weeks ago against BC and was amazed by the amount of supporters that McCain had there. There was a group wearing hunting outfits and were handing out flyers in support of McCain.
One approached me and asked if I was supporting McCain. I immediately said I'm not, and asked him why he was. No answer. He moved along to the next person.
WHY are so many poor college kids (who would clearly benefit from his Obama's tax plan) in support of McCain? Seems like they are blindly supporting him IMHO. 10/22/2008 5:48:21 PM |

Joe Biden at Seattle fund raiser transcript says Obama will be tested
Quote : | "And here's the point I want to make. Mark my words. Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he's gonna have to make some really tough - I don't know what the decision's gonna be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's gonna happen. I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate. And he's gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you, not financially to help him, we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right." |
