My coworker lives in Cardinal Grove and has been out all week waiting on an adjuster to come to his house. He had windows broken out, his roof will need to be replaced, his fence is gone and his custom built shed in the backyard got destroyed. And he had it better than a number of his neighbors.

Video of tornado crossing I-95. They drive right through it.

http://www.wral.com/news/video/9456892/#/vid9456892

Quote :
"“I would have continued to video the storm, but Mom and Dad told me to get down. I thought about holding my arm up and continuing to video, but I was afraid something would come through the windshield and take off my arm, and I knew I would need it," Michael said in an e-mail."

(I think someone said earlier they may know this family?)

""As we passed (under) an overpass, we saw the dark clouds and what appeared to be a tornado on the southwest side of I-95," the boy's father, Ken Tursam, said in an e-mail to WRAL News on Wednesday. "There was no place to pull off of the road due to the traffic."

Ken Tursam said the video might make it look like they are storm chasers, but that isn't the case.

"I can assure you all, (what) we were trying to do is get out of the path of the storm. I sped up, hoping to get past the worst of it," he said."

So I inadvertently found where the tornado went through Dunn on my way to Wilmington this afternoon. Almost a week later and it still looks like it just went through. Also saw minor damage in Clinton off of 421.

Jesus Christ, I had no idea how bad Jacksonville was hit. I drove through Jacksonville on the way back to Morehead, and wow... just devastation in the Piney Green area. Seeped out onto the Hwy 24 area too.

I also drove past Smithfield and saw where the tornado passed over the interstate.

Fuck a duck. At least I know why my dog does when shits about to get real... she started digging the fucking carpet, she's never done that (she's 11 so there's a good sample). Tornado was roughly on a line toward my house by it lifted not terribly far from my house.

LOL @ Wikipedia:
Quote :
" Current estimates suggest that at least 38 human beings were disassembled from tornadoes and an additional five human beings were completely disassembled as a result of straight-line winds associated with the storm system."

Tornado in Knoxville too, they're not letting kids out of school until the warning expires.

ha, one afternoon in middle school, there was a tornado warning for a place about 15min away and get down in the hallways of the main part of the building. We ended up staying 30 minutes late for a supposed tornado on the radar and wasn't officially spotted.

I'm trying to calm down but I am really flipping the fuck out right now

This is the tornado that hit Cullman, which isn't too far from here (and where my classmate's gma lives, who they can't get on the phone )

It also hit the hospital

They have canceled all classes and the UAB hospital is now in emergency mode basically

Tornadoes are seriously my biggest fear, and my windows won't stop rattling, and I'm seriously on the verge of tears

It's only me, my dog, and my snake, I live on the highest floor of the building and it's old and not stable

and the tornadoes being reported aren't just touch and go, they're ripping up a shit load of stuff... from what I can tell, two cities have had their downtown areas hit by tornadoes (the same one maybe?)

wow......so where are you supposed to go in these types of emergencies? Does your building not have contingency plans? Basement?

There's a basement (which is, of course, sketchy as hell)... I don't know what they would want us to do... I know to get in the bathtub at the very least

The only thing keeping me calm is this building is old so obviously it hasn't been hit by a tornado before... but I keep freaking out because I'm sure these tornadoes hit some old buildings

well and depending on how old, I'm sure the architectual integrity of the building would (hopefully) be able to withstand it better than some of the newer ones people have been just throwing up. Well, let us know when it's all over and let us know you're safe and sound.
