and just announced: St. Vincent at Cat's Cradle in May.

Tickets for the former on sale Monday. Yet to be released when they go on sale for the latter.

Also, I have no idea what those folks have been up to for a very long time, and I thought their last album was panned by a lot of people and I didn't pay it much attention, so I'm not going to assume show of the year or anything. Jeff Mangum was pretty much really fucking great as expected. Nailed all the vocals and everything. He seemed super comfortable up there as well. Kind of wish people had stood up and gotten into it for more than just the encore, but I blame that on the lack of alcohol in the venue. Opening band was the worst thing I've ever seen. Had to go in the hallway. The lead singer looked like David the Gnome.

Mangum was great. I thought a couple of songs (Carrot Flowers Part 3, mostly) suffered from the sparse instrumentation. Had to hang in the lobby during the opener. The show would've been even better someplace less sterile that served alcohol. The girl next to me and StillFuchsia was fucking crying for the entire show...it was hilarious.

9:30 club just announced last night that they'd be going on sale this morning at 10:00am. if tickets aren't available for the show at the cradle today then they probably will be very soon.

got my ticket. can't wait. 9:30 club has a sold out andrew bird show, a sold out (that i don't really care about) ingrid michaelson show, a (probably) sold out spiritualized show, 2 sold out M83 shows, and a (maybe potentially later on) sold out m. ward show all within 5 days of each other. i'm missing M83 because of a wedding in damn salisbury that weekend. ugh.

The area around it looks kinda sketchy but it is only like two blocks from the metro stop so it's not that bad. I am going to both jack's mannequin shows there this weekend.
