weird, my contact list was bugged with beta 1. Most contacts were listed under # instead of the first letter of the first name. So of course searching/spotlight didn't work either.

Can you have 2 iPhones on one contract? Online it says you cannot order more than 1 per plan but it specifies 'online'. I have not had a chance to hit the apple store so I figured this would get a quicker response.

PROBLEMS with beta 3:

doesnt like syncing with windows version of itunes...gets through the whole thing..then just says "syncing ipod" and never finishes..if you cancel the sync..the songs are there..but they wont play..
also, for my kenwood head unit, which has ipod control...the touch and iphone used to work fantastic with it...not so with the new firmware. i can change songs via the headunit..but sound doesnt come out of the stereo...it comes out of the speaker in the ipod...during hand control mode and ipod control mode..
im guessing that its something they will have to fix with a update to the kenwood firmware..(im going to exchange this head unit for another model with better bluetooth and more options) if anyone has suggestions..please share.

besides those problems....it seems to work ok.
since I couldnt properly sync with the new firmware...and since I could no longer play the ipod in my car...i just downgraded to 2.2.1 again....jailbroken it has all of the features of fw 3.0.

oh my god

stereo bluetooth is SO MUCH BETTER in beta 3

they also changed the volume control in cocoa touch... now, if you're using a source that can't use the volume control on the phone (i.e. the dock connector line out or a stereo bluetooth headset) it displays the name of the source where the volume control would be.

they also seem to have fixed the skipping problem... it hasn't skipped or cut out all day on me, even when it was in my pocket and i was walking around.

has anyone noticed the scrubbing of tracks? that shits pretty awesome. when you highlight the bubble you can change the rate it scrubs at by moving your finger perpendicular to the timeline and it will display text telling you at what rate its changing.

when using firmware 3.0 beta 3....i cant control the ipod from my car head unit properly..sometimes it says ipod error...and sometimes it will allow me to control it...but it always plays the sound through the speaker on the ipod...not through my head unit and car speakers..very strange.
hope they can get that fixed for 3.0...or i have a feeling that alot of dock/external control devices will be useless..
even if i use the ipod hand control mode...sound doesnt come through the usb to teh car speakers.

fortunately...i just recently bought this head unit from crutchfield and the bluetooth on it is pretty shitty (and it doesnt even support a2dp) called them today and i have a nicer unit on the way...which should allow me to use my new bluetooth enabled touch in the car..then i wont have to worry about the firmware incompatibility with usb control devices..
best part is the new head unit is a kenwood like the old one..so i can just swap them out..no soldering...and it will be here tomorrow..

It doesn't seem to have the control profile. I used my new head unit with my cellphone and it worked fine. Control and everything. Lg vx9900 and kenwood 838u. Also the sound quality of the iPod a2dp sucks compared to the cellphone.
Another thing about the new head unit is it works fine with fw 3.0! I was so happy about that. Listen to my pod and my phone is connect via handsfree and bt audio ( don't use it vs the USB iPod control though). The Bluetooth handsfree works so much better on this unit...external mic helps. Everything is working good so far in fw3 cept bt sucks. I'm ready for a new iPhone now

Yeah. I thought so too until I compared it to a fully functioning cell with a2dp. I wish I could say otherwise. My buddies iPhone also sounds poor comparatively. I'm expecting it will be much better with the new hardware. For now it's worthless either way due to lack of control and no song data over bt.

just bought an iphone from the apple store..

actually wasnt thinking i was going to get one...but my verizon contract is up and i went in there to do the eligibility thing...and i had no deposit. So...i figured I could swing this and get a new 16gb 3g...then ill buy the new one when it comes out for full price. considering i was expecting to pay a huge deposit...i wont mind dropping more coin on a new version when it comes out.

I wish Apple would alter the way they use the ID3 tag. I wish that you could tag stuff instead of designate it. For example songs that are collaborations of two artists; I wish you could tag each artist, then on your iPhone either artist you select the song will show up under it. I dont like having to specify one artist or the other, or making a whole new category by putting them both down. I do most of my song selecting by Artist. It would also work with the genre and where a song has appeared on multiple albums (ie greatest hits, etc)

i mean, that sounds like a good idea... but i didn't think the ID3 spec allowed for things like that... there's only one Artist field and one Album Artist field. apple could probably do it if they implemented it in their XML library format, but idk...

What does apple check before replacing a phone for waranty ? Mine has never been wet or anything but it has been dipped a time or two but there is no physical damage to the phone. The mic / audio control stopped working.

^There is one at the bottom of the headphone jack, one in the dock and I believe two more inside the phone. If you look under the chip in the dock and in the bottom of the mic jack and see a pinkish/orange color, you might be SOL.
