Great win today, but Newhan going back to Ottawa for Surhoff is a double edge sword. I hate to lose a guy like Newhan, who now is saying that he feels betrayed and wants to be traded. However, he and jorge julio together might bring in a good SP for the stretch.

FSN only shows Comcast-broadcasted O's games.. today's game was a WJZ production so only the locals got to watch it.. But yea.. who cares about a hotdog eating contest and repeats of last year's billiards matches.. show some great baseball for a change.. especially against two division rivals fighting for 1st place..

yea i had to watch the game on PAX, which has horrible camera quality, but still, great game.

huge pop at my house when BJ struck out Manny to end the game. Ryan's had such a time of it as late that i'm happy for him.

i think we'll come out of the AllStar Break refreshed and reloaded, and we'll be back in first before the end of July.

how long are bedard and lopez supposed to be out for?

im goin to a couple games on the 28th & 29th and was hopin they'd be healthy by then. (depending on the rotation, bedard may not even be pitching if healthy though, obviously)

bedard's already throwing pitches in practice and should be optioned to double A bowie and back in Baltimore by the end of the month, so you may be in luck.

javy, on the other hand, tried to bat at practice the other day, and his hand swelled up, so its not likely he'll be back til mid-august.

Mike Lowell sucks, and makes 7.5M a year, but it would be nice to throw a good starter into the rotation. Julio is dead in my eyes, and Penn doesn't have his act together.. wouldn't miss either of them. I like Bigbie, but I guess we see what happens.

i too like bigbie, but lets look at the big picture....we are losing a 250 hitter....not a huge loss. i think picking up another pitcher is essential, and we are getting rid of julio! i cringe everytime he comes in the game now.

penn isnt major league level yet...he may be soon, but i think they are making a playoff push for this year. with bedard back, and another pitcher in the line-up, things are looking up.

i like mora at 3rd though.

i dont think bat power is needed. once lopez is back, and if sammy ever gets out of his slump, we should be in good shape offensively. pitching is the big downfall of the team, and the one that needs to be addressed if they expect to make the playoffs.

lowell can have a breakout season too...he's solid defensively and mora can play anywhere...

this adds an all star calibur pitcher to our lineup without losing a star...it's a win-win for us...

we didn't lose anyone who has been essential to our success this year
