On the DVDs they said their original plan was a story arc taking place over 5-6 years.
Whether that's 5-6 years on the island or 5-6 seasons, who knows> 9/22/2005 4:52:44 PM |

this show isn't like desperate housewives or seinfeld where they can have a large calendar gap in between seasons
i mean, even in the show goes to 10 seasons, you'd think at the most that would be 3 "actual" years 9/22/2005 5:15:49 PM |

They didn't. I was just thinking about the theme of sacrifices and the hints of powers in Desmond. But like I said, the timeline doesn't seem to work out.9/22/2005 6:23:44 PM |

I just watched the summary show that was on before the new episode. One thing that I noticed was that the front cover of the boy's comic book was blurred out.
Was it like that in the 1st season? Any significance? 9/22/2005 6:44:44 PM |

^I noticed that as well. I can't remember if it was like that in the original episode.
Also, that guy who told Sawyer to go to Australia. he looked very similar to the man who confronts Jin in the bathroom at the airport...was it the same guy? 9/22/2005 6:49:19 PM |

i bet the michael and sawyer and jin are saved by M-Rod and the passengers that survived with her. or maybe theyre too far out to be saved. i dont know how they are going to live all the way out in the water. also, i bet walter is some sort of robot who is being controlled by one of the survivors who had individually selected everyone on the plane. i know you know who i think it is.

i was thinking about this scene:

did a lot of you really not pick up on her being his "wife"? if you did, why was this scene so powerful? you already knew that he "fixed" her, they said so last season.
if anything, the best part of this flashback was when they were in the OR and he said he was gonna fix her and all the nurses were like-"wtf did he just say?!? "9/22/2005 9:26:49 PM |

i'm pretty sure that's the same guy. I'd like to see a picture of the guy at the beginning of the episode next to desmond.
Oh and I hear something about there being bunk beds in there somewhere. Plus when the music came on, supposedly there was screaming in the background (evidently closed caption had it in there).

As I said on page 6:
Quote : | "Or maybe the island is full of "hatches" (and the numbers on the hatch are the address) and it's an experimental underground future city like Walt Disney envisioned with EPCOT. I mean it had part of a geodesic sphere (well, a geodesic dome at least) like Spaceship Earth!" |
And then Saps pulls this out on page 7:
Quote : | ""In 1929, Dr. John Desmond Bernal conceived of the Bernal sphere, a rotating space colony with a diameter of approximately 15 kilometers (9.3 miles), filled with air and colonized around the equator, where the rotation of the colony would create centrifugal force to simulate Earth's gravity.
In the 60s and 70s, speculation and research into the possibility of space colonies experienced a renaissance, brought on by the Space Race. One of the most prominent thinkers participating in the design and advocacy of space colonies was Princeton physicist Gerard O'Neill, who in 1969 asked the provocative question, "Is the surface of a planet really the right place for an expanding technological civilization?" Throughout the 70s, O'Neill led workshops that investigated several proposed space colony designs in great detail. A NASA Summer Study in 1975 investigated three primary designs, dubbed Island One, Island Two, and Island Three. All three are based on the premise of a self-sustaining, artificial ecology within the station, called an arcology.
Island One was the Bernal sphere, an enclosed design (good for protecting against radiation), excepting the poles, which would be left open to allow mirrors to redirect sunlight from the outside to the interior of the colony."" |

from the first page in the google search for "lost producers "not purgatory""
Quote : | "The island is not purgatory. The most popular internet theory is that the castaways are Oceanic 815's passengers who died and the island is a kind of purgatory where they must atone for their sins. It plays neatly into the show's themes of redemption and enlightenment, but it has been discredited by the writers and producers.
