Johnny Appleseed! w00t.

now the yankees need a DH other than bernie williams, and I will be happy.

Durazo, anyone?

I mean, I'm fine with the Phillips/Giambi combo at 1B/DH. It's not like we need the DH for offensive purposes.

Also, Yanks signed Dotel. One-year deal, I think.

THey are the second winningest franchise in MOB history, of course they have loyal fans. Try a century long drought, fuckers.

Cardinals signed Ponson to a 1 year deal. I think Ponson is extremely over-rated and am surprised a class organization like the Cardinals made him an offer. He doesn't fit with their typical players who are normally unselfish and not lazy, conceited, fat asses.

I think Ponson is a win-win situation. They are not going to expect anything out of him, so if he pitches well great and if he doesn't so what. Dave Duncan may can turn this guy around late in his career like he has many others like he did Daryl Kile.

i wouldnt say that duncan had to do much turning around for dk bc his only problem was that he was in colorado, bc obviously his last year with the astros wasnt the problem.

So the Yankees signed Mike Myers a couple weeks back. I don't much about him except that he likes to knock on the ground before he delivers and he's pretty effective against lefties.

What's the scoop on Myers?

basically he is 35 years old, is a submarine lefty, and was a cruicial part of the 2004 boston world series team. He is tough on lefties and held them to a batting average of about .179 last season, but couldnt break a window with his fastball and gets rocked by righties.

he will be the LOOGY for the bullpen this year in the bronx. But the yanks picked up villone just as back up.

Yeah, I mean that's what I pretty much knew. I was just wondering if Mr. Boston/Mets ^^^ up there had any info from watching this guy on his team.

Thanks though.

I sure hope the bullpen holds up. That's been our main weak spot for a few years now.

I honestly hope not. Cubs should let Cedeno try being SS for a bit. They also have Neifi Perez, who filled in for Nomar last year. They should just move Patterson to LF/RF. Patterson, Jones, and Pierre would be a pretty fast, and good, defense out there

i hope we keep prior.

patterson sucks and needs a change of scenary. we have given him so many chances to prove himself and he has just gotten worse. matt murton did a solid job last year in left and im happy with him there.

rumor on the espn braves board is betemit for craig monroe of the tigers.

and langerhans for david riske of the indians. if this happened, it would give cle another OF, so they might spin crisp to boston for marte.

The Blue Jays are looking to trade Miguel Batista and Orlanda Hudson to the DBacks for Troy Glaus. The Jays may be actually trying to be a good team now.

That trade was a screw job.

Anyhow.. Mets trade Jae Seo and Tim Hamulack for Duaner Sanchez and Scmoll (never heard of him). This isn't really post worthy but it's a BTTT.

I was in California for 10 days. Just got back last night at 2am (thanks to 7 hours of flight delays) so I didn't see it. They seem to always have a few bombs during the regular season (in 2004 they lost by 20 to GT and got blown out 2 other times) but it doesn't really matter. They are always playing their best come March... (except last year but it was against State so I was happy)..

Back to baseball. Just saw where ARod announced he will play for the U.S. in the Baseball Classic. Do we want a player who might not want to be there? Or a guy like Hank Blalock or Scott Rolen who always gives it their all?

I would still want Rolen or Blalock starting at 3rd. Let ARod play SS.

Gay Rod never wins anything when it's important - his teams always come up short. I'd rather have him stay home and use Rolen at 3B (assuming his 100%).

That is ridiculous. I would use Wright or Blalock ahead of Rolen at this point. He was injured and his offense (which will be what this competition is about) is not at the level of either Wright OR Blalock at this point anymore.

However, the U.S. would be downright FOOLS to not use the best player in the game coming off an MVP season as a starter. Look, I HATE the Yankees more then anyone, trust me, but I'm no idiot..

Which is why the US should play ARod at SS. The US is very deep already at 3rd. Blaylock, Wright, or Rolen at 3rd would all be better than Jeter or Rollins at SS.

Obviously I am not a fan of A-Rod and I think other players resent him and his fat contract. These competitions are always very team oriented and I think having someone else at 3B would be better for the team concept.

I forgot about Wright - he would make a good choice over Rolen assuming Rolen is not 100%. You have to remember that Rolen had a HUGE 2004 and got off to a shit start in 05 before getting hurt so to assume that his bat is not on par with Wright or Blalock is premature. Also Rolen's D makes him a much better play at 3B than Blalock IMO (plus the US is going to win this thing with pitching and D, not just hitting).

Playing A-Rod at SS is not a bad idea either, but I think Jeter is a good leader and deserves the spot over A-Rod.

I guess A-Rod finally decided to play for the US.

I saw this quote in an article:

Quote :
"
With A-Rod now on board, Team USA's lineup might look like this:

_LF Damon

_SS Jeter

_3B Rodriguez

_DH Bonds

_1B Derrek Lee or Mark Teixeira

_CF Griffey

_RF Lance Berkman or Vernon Wells

_C Jason Varitek

_2B Chase Utley or Michael Young

"

Pretty stud lineup, although I am not excited about Griffey being our CF. I'd rather have a speed guy with a great glove out there.
