^^Out of the box, the backwards compatibility software is not on the hard drive, with the exception of halo 1 and halo2. You either have to have an internet connection with Xbox live silver or gold and download it, or you can go to Xbox.com and find the file, burn it onto a CD and then run it on ur 360.

question about backwards compatability:

i have xbox live gold and didnt get the option to upgrade the software...can you manually update it over xbox live?

also i tried burning the "Default.xex" or whatever to a CD and it didnt read it...then I burnt it to a DVD and it gave me the option to "Update November 2005 XBox Game Backwards Compatibility" or some shit...but then I would put an XBox game in and get the error "This is an XBox game...Please play it in your XBox system"...so I thought ok well fuck it this doesnt work...then I put in NBA 2K6 and it said "This is an XBox 360 game...please play it in your XBox 360 system" luckily a power off and on allowed me to play 360 games again but I cant get the updates to install

does anyone know the steps to manually download and install the backwards compatibility via xbox live? thanks.

if there's a backward compatibility image/file then Live will automatically download it. If it doesn't it means the game isn't supported yet. Lotsa games are still being 360 enabled so you might have to wait. I rented Call of Duty: Big Red one the other day and it didn't play on my 360. There's no point in downloading something when you know that 360 is automatically going to do it for you.

has anyone else had any problems with their madden online? Mine almost always freezes in the 3rd or 4th quarter. I'm like 1-7, but I should be about 6-2, but I will be winning and the game will freeze and ill have to disconnect. It rarely ever freezes in non-online matches.
