"was Homicide based outta Bodymore? I know the Corner was...that show was dope...only 6 episodes though...pretty sad show"

hell yeah it was a baltimore show! it not the "real" show that the wire is, but you have to understand it ran on NBC back in the day with the original law and order. you know det. munch on SVU? he transferred from bmore when homicide ended its run.

and yes the corner was great. i loved seeing lester freemon, and ashy larry as a junkie. the story was a tragedy, but a real life one. ill admit it pulled a tear or two out my eye.

"As much as I liked Bodie's character, I don't feel too bad because:

1. He did the same thing to Wallace.
2. He knew what he was getting himself into. He chose to go out that way."

Bodie was a soldier, he said it himself. And he was the only person this whole season (and perhaps in the show's run) who went out on his own terms. I like the crisis of conscience Bodie gets after Little Kevin essentially has a Wallace done to him, though less deservedly so. A lot of people think that Bodie was under-used in the season where he met his end, but he underscored a lot of the points of S4... he was a kid when we met him, and some 4 years later, he feels old by street standards, and then a new crew takes over and he's bloody on a worthless corner.

This isn't going to happen to Namond. 10 to 1 it happens to Mike, Dookie, or Randy (if he eventually goes that way).

Carver's walk down the hall after Randy's Miss Anna was in the ICU was also a nice shout-out to "Where's the boy, stringer!?!?" from season 1.

fairwarning

season 2 is slow, i hated it first time i watched

but when you get thru season 3..maybe rewatch 2

you'll get a newfound appreciation for it

its one of those "the whole is greater than its parts" type deals with S2

^, ^^ I think the problem with Season 2 is that you go into it unaware that the cast of characters change from season to season and so does the plot. After the 3rd season, you're expecting it. I can't think of any other show where each season is almost a completely different show but now its one of the reasons I like it so much.

season 2 is really what takes the show to a new level. it focuses on a completely different side of baltimore, yet still keeps up with the stories from season 1. seasons 3 and 4 continues the trend...getting more complex and weaving more stories together.

i definately disagree that season 2 is slow though...that season had me hanging on the edge of my seat more than any other one.

I view the progression of teh seasons as sort of a micro to macro viewing...you start off with the microcosm of the towers/corners...then you find out the towers are being supplied by the illegal shipping cartels in 2, and then in season 3 it pulls away to the larger view even moreso and then even bigger by season 4

season 2 starts off slower than 3 or 4 because you have to learn about the new characters...seasons 3 and 4 you can just kind of jump in (if youve seen season 1)

i agree with bob
i like how the writers show how organized crime has reached all through out the city and how it has a huge reach into what seems like every sector

just finished watching season 3. I love this show. HBO has done an incredible job with their programming in the past few years.

Question: When does season 4 come out on DVD?

Just got finished watching season 1 and i am hooked. We went out and bought season 2 today and are starting it tonight.

My question is why is season 3 so expensive? 83 bucks compared to 1 and 2 being 55. Is that b/c its newer?

I wonder if they used the same system that was used in Season Two to make the cargo containers dissapear.

reading the article, you would think they probably wish they DID watch the wire, because maybe then they wouldve realized how things changed after 9/11 and take what they had made and shut it down

^true but devils advocate...they wouldve noticed in the wire that less federal resources were going towards stopping drugs and more federal resources were going towards stopping terrorism
