^Charlotte better not pick Adam Fucking Morrison.

They cannot waste another pick like they did with Fatass May.

Page 8 says PLEASE COME BACK CED!

nbadraft.net also has Charlotte taking Morrison, but those draft sites are rarely spot on with their predictions...more of an estimation of where the players might fall in the draft.

personally i think the Bobcats should get Brandon Roy. we don't need another forward (though i'd be happy with rudy gay). come on elite shooting guard!

i also think Ced should stay in school so our team can be sick next year

unless Roy has started to cry BEFORE the end of a game that was still competitive, I'd take him over Morrison.

Posted today on ESPN Insider

Update: Who's staying in the draft?
Cedric Simmons, PF, North Carolina State: A month ago it looked certain that Simmons was going to stay in the draft as a strong first-round candidate whose coach had just bolted.

But the hiring of Sidney Lowe may change that. Lowe is lobbying hard for Simmons to return to school for another season. Lowe, who's been a head coach in the NBA twice, is promising Simmons he can better prepare him for the NBA and help him raise his stock in the next year.

However, Simmons is being pulled by agents and some NBA teams who want him in the draft. It should be interesting to see who wins this tug-of-war. Our money is on the money.

"I feel like if you work hard you're going to get better either way, here at State or in the NBA," Simmons told the Wilmington Star-News.

When asked what the plus-minus of returning to State is, Simmons replied, "There really is no plus-minus -- the plus-minus is money."

Based on what he's saying, it seems that way. Example:

Actually...we've known for a while. But he's a little more confirmation for you guys still blindly hoping that he might come back next year:

http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1316

Quote :
"Joey Jinwright, who has been helping his cousin Cedric Simmons navigate through the NBA draft process, informed DraftExpress on Saturday that Simmons has hired the services of an agent and will be forfeiting his remaining two years of college eligibility at NC State. Simmons has been working out over the past few weeks in the New York area and will begin private workouts with NBA teams starting this week. His first workout is tomorrow, June 30th, with the New York Knicks, alongside Josh Boone, Mardy Collins and Shannon Brown. Simmons will be in Philadelphia the day after (with Shannon Brown, Shawne Williams and Marshall Strickland) and then in Boston on June 2nd. He’ll then be flying to Orlando, where he has been invited to the “physical-only” portion of the NBA pre-draft camp, and will also be conducting an open workout for interested NBA teams. Simmons has decided to retain the services of New York City based agents Andy Miller and Justin Zanik."

He's been messing around with this agent for months who has already done some thing that would make it almost impossible for Cedric to come back to State. This is just a nail in the coffin as far as him "hiring" an agent.

Say goodbye to next season.

Maybe Dan Werner will be interested in early PT. According to his dad, we are still the team to beat after his Kentucky visit.
Quote :
" "Dan liked it," the elder Werner said, "they have top of the line facilities, a great academic situation and a great coach. I would still have to say at this time, though, NC State is still the team to beat for his services.""

i agree, and i'd just like to say this dude is really nice in real life too, me and my roomate played him and gavin grant in pool at the college inn in summer of 2005 when the heat were playing detroit- gavin jokes around a little bit, but cedric was a really nice quiet type guy

at the time i didnt know who he was only that he was a tall basketball player and he never said anything like "dont you know who i am", etc.

and then like about a month ago he came into bath and body works and i sold him an oil warmer, and AGAIN such a nice quiet dude, seems very humble

Lowe could be John Wooden reincarnate and he'd suck ass next year. Herb would have struggled tremendously as well...as would any coach. Remember K's back spasms? Yah.

Throw in a new system, a new head coach with no prior experience, and nothing in the cupboard to work with and it'll be 3-4 years before we might see some decent teams, honestly

I don't really buy that. Everyone thought we were going to suck after Powell left...and we did pretty fucking good. And people who say that Ced would be gone if Herb had stayed don't know what they are talking about. Next year we would more than likely have Ced and all of our recruits coming in. Much improved Grant, Fells, etc...

I think we would have been fine next year (then easily our best recruiting class ever coming in after that). It's been about five years since Herb has "struggled tremendously."

right man, players are drafted way higher than their season stats all the time, it is all about potential

dont try to make little digs at herb if ced is drafted high

look at Vince, he average 15 and 5 the year he was drafted, dean smith obviously didnt know how to use him.

this may surprise you, but the nba has a very different style of play than college.

ced simply did not have the skills and, most importantly, the strength to succeed in the acc this year. next year may have been breakout for him if he had added a little lower body strength and learned to put two hands on the ball.

^^??

would him staying in college all of a sudden make him an nba success??

i mean, state hasnt had a good player since gugliotta, so of course we wont have nba success. todd fuller and julius hodge isnt gonna cut it at the next level. state has a history of "college" players, from fire/ice, fuller, grundy, hodge. all pretty good in college, some great, and all pretty much nba failures, although the jury is still out on hodge. but, personally, i dont judge the sucess of my college by nba players. last i checked wake still has no championships but they have two all-stars and another really good player in the nba.

I wasn't even attacking Herb, yet you still felt the need to defend Herb and bash Ced...

^^i aplogize then, it seemed like you were taking an underhanded bash.

i actually do blame herb partly for ced's stats, but it is about 50/50 with ced himself. herb needed to give ced more oppurtunities and ced needed to not fuck up the opportunities he was given, which he did half the time.

but i dont think player's stats specifically reflect a coach to a huge amount as mcuh as they specifically reflect the college style of play and the fact that most big men are not developed enough in college to have an offense run through them. that results in their stats being low and draft position being high.

I don't think there is anything inherent in the college game that keeps big men from being utilized/developed. The lack of dominant college big men has more to do with few big men sticking around to develop in college like a Tim Duncan or Emeka Okafor. Big men were still a big part of the college game 10-15 years ago. NBA teams are initially attracted to big men based on size and athleticism, whereas guards typically need time to develop and prove their skills. This is why college basketball has become a guards game. Time will tell if the age minimum will have an effect on that, now that the OJ Mayos of the world have to spend at least some time in college.

Ced's high draft stock (and that of many big men this year) can be thanked in large part to the weak draft class (in part created by the institution of the age minimum). Ced could have an outstanding year and see his draft stock slip, with the guys coming out next year.
