I updated Sidney Lowe's entry this afternoon when the PC was confirmed. Filled out his bio some too (all it originally had was basically the first three sentences that you see there now).

Simmons is slotted somewhere between 8 and 16 in the draft... he made a good decision to leave and will not be coming back. Brackman has yet to announce but most expect him to skip basketball so he can focus on preparing for a big MLB draft year. Larry Davis will probably stay with NCSU now (he was looking into transferring). Getting Chris Wright back will be a stretch but Lowe being PG can't hurt. This also definitely helps with Jamelle McMillan's recruitment.

I was just quoting the article...you give me a fucking break.

Some people mentioned Lowe's shitty NBA record. Then you referenced one of his rosters on his 5 or so teams that was pretty shitty in terms of talent. That article that I got the quote from mentioned how one of his teams at Memphis had some pretty good talent.

There are two sides to the story. The point is that nobody should say that he sucks because of his shitty record as a head coach (although, if you read that, it doesn't really make sense)...but you also can't discount the fact that he's had a shitty record as a head coach.

I know you're happy that Herb's gone and we got a new coach....but don't be so giddy that you ignore the clear facts.

The team got all the talent as he was leaving... Jerry West had just come in and started making changes. He didn't stick around to benefit from their development. Plus since they were no longer in Canada players would actually consider playing for them because the exchange rate reduced their overall pay.

His shitty record is fromo shitty teams... he was the fifth coach in the history of the grizzlies franchise and in his first two years set franchise records for wins. Simply because the numbers don't look good now doesn't mean it wasn't a good coaching job (he did what the previous 4 guys couldn't do).

FOUR years ago people thought Stromile Swift had potential. It turns out thats all he had, potential.


I gave the '92-'93 roster for the T-Wolves. It didnt really change the next year. Who cares if they replaced Bob McCann, Marlon Maxey, or Gundars Vetta with someone equally as shitty. Who did they add the next year, JR Rider? WOW.

He coached Vancouver the year AFTER they traded MIke Bibby for Jason Williams and Abdur Rahim for Pau Gasol. Of course they were going to suck. Thats usually what happens when a bad team trades away its best two players.

So yes, lets visit these "clear" facts.

Sidney Lowe was unable to win games in the NBA when Michael Dickerson (who is now out of the league I believe) was his best player.

look at the bobcats and how they struggle as a new team, same deal with the teams coached by Lowe (*except the bobcats didn't have to deal with a location change and won 26 games this year as opposed to 23, which was Sid Lowe/Memphis's record)

and Pau Gasol won Rookie of the Year with Sid Lowe as his coach.

hes coming into a not so good situation don't try to make it look better than it is

herb last year limited the development of Fells he would play like 5 minutes every game when he had the ability and should of been playing as much as the other guys...

its not like we are screwed but we only have 5 good players we have coming back

atsur, fells (played 5 minutes a game) , grant, costner (didn't play last season but like 20 minutes, but has a ton of potential), and brackman (who knows what he is doing next year)

That's a good nucleus.

It's definitely a borderline NCAA tournament team (which is what we've been 4 of the last 5 years) so I dont see us taking a large step backwards and we have good young talent.

he may be coming into a not so good situation, but it has nothing to do with the talent at the program

we do lose those players, but we still have the fells, grant, mccauley, costner, goofy white boy (forget his name), and whatever recruits decide to still come to state (davis?) -- this doesn't include brackman who is up in the air

in comparison: duke loses redick, williams, melchioni, dockery, yet they have a solid core returning.
