Multiple sources are telling me that CBS is thisclose to sealing a deal to bring Jericho back for at least eight episodes, possibly at mid-season.
My spies caution that this is in no way official, but it certainly sounds like it could be by day's end. It's now just a matter of signing the actors to new deals and, according to one insider, finding a new soundstage to house the show's sets.
To say this would be a huge victory for crazy TV fans everywhere would be the understatement of the frakkin' millennium.

Quote : | "CBS' president of entertainment, Nina Tassler, just posted an open letter on CBS.com confirming what I first reported yesterday: Those nutty Jericho fans brought the show back from the dead!
The complete letter is below.
To the Fans of Jericho:
Wow!
Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime-time television series. You got our attention; your e-mails and collective voice have been heard.
As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of Jericho for mid-season next year. In success there is the potential for more. But for there to be more Jericho we will need more viewers.
A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS television network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.
We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grassroots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.
At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that Jericho will return to our schedule. However, in the interim we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes rebroadcasting Jericho on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on Sept. 25, and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.
On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of Jericho in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.
Sincerely, Nina Tassler President, CBS Entertainment

They should just move American Idol to the summer.. when nothing else is on.. and when all the kids who watch that crap are out of school, so that decent shows have a chance in the fall and spring. 6/8/2007 10:56:31 PM |

Yeah. They should move their most popular show to the summer when less people are watching. That's a great idea. 6/8/2007 11:46:10 PM |

This might be a win/loss situation. Its good to see the show is back, but if the show lacks ratings it will be canceled and thus how will the writers write these 7 episodes? Will they close the plot in anticipation of poor ratings or leave the plot open to further development in anticipation of good ratings? 6/9/2007 12:02:39 AM |

I'd honestly rather perfer them to just give them 13 seasons to wrap it up with no chance of continuation than another opportunity to get stuck with no resolution. 6/9/2007 12:45:12 AM |

^I think he meant episodes...you may have realized that too though..
^^^Wrap the war between the two towns up, answer some other questions, but dont start with any new stuff thats too big. But really, IF they promote it properly, and with all of the word of mouth generated from the nuts campaign, Id say it could stick around...remember it was a shoe-in for renewal when it started, and it wasnt very good then. Of course no Gerald McRaney definitely hurts. 6/9/2007 2:58:10 PM |

Good decision. How do you move from Deadwood to Jericho
Quote : | "Says his personal rep: "Gerald is moving on. He's thrilled that HBO has submitted him for Emmy consideration for Deadwood, in which he appeared as publisher George Hearst. I was reading up on how the writers strike would affect certain shows and came across this bit. Looks like Jericho may actually benefit a little bit from the strike.
Quote : | "Jericho: Fans of serialized drama should take note of this one. Jericho's last minute resurrection after cancellation led to it getting an abbreviated seven episode season, which has already completed production. If the strike continues CBS will be able to program Jericho at a time when few other serialized series are on the air and with the huge added bonus of offering a complete story told over its brief season, rather than the abrupt cut off most other serialized shows will have to endure." |
Here's to hoping this leads to a full third season.]11/7/2007 2:46:21 PM |

If you think about it, it would be the worse time to bring it back. November and December people are traveling around not as likely to to be watching TV, While January more household would be sitting down and watching the tube. It's a better scenario for a show come back after being so close to getting canceled.11/19/2007 8:55:30 PM |

Fuck you Zel. Firefly was good, but apparently the fans didn't react in a combined effort to let the network know they were not happy. I'm fucking glad to see that this and Family Guy and Futurama are all three seeing new episodes. Maybe the networks are starting to listen to the audience, instead of just stupid fucking diaries. 12/5/2007 8:53:56 PM |

unless you are a nielson family it doesn't matter what the fuck you do, download away, you're voice in the ratings wont' be heard if you sat there and watched the show a hundred times over. the ratings system is simply broken, i refuse to believe that reality tv shows get the fucking ratings they do, i think nielson family's are just predisposed to watching that shit for probably the same reasons they agree to have their viewing habits recorded

hopefully with the writers strike the ratings will be good enough that it gets picked up for a full run next season.
I kinda liked the premise of the town surviving on its own, although all the intrigue with the cheyenne gov't controlling everything now is pretty interesting. 1/15/2008 1:45:55 AM |
