Maybe Hampton will miss the entire season and we won't have to pay him again.

^ I am not sure we have an insurance policy on him this year. I know we had him insured last year, but I thought that all those companies that insured guys like Hampton and Griffey more or less went out of business. Hampton should just give back most of his money. He sure as hell hasn't earned shit in two years.

^ no. The last two years of his deal (07 and 08) are solely the Braves responsibility.

Quote :
"He will make $29.5 million during the 2007-08 seasons, the last of an eight-year, $121 million contract he signed with Colorado.

Atlanta got him in a November 2002 three-way trade with Colorado and Florida, and those teams paid most of his salary from 2003-05.

The Braves were responsible for his entire salary during the 2006-08 seasons, though insurance paid part of his $13.5 million salary in 2006 when he was on the DL recovering from elbow surgery.

The Braves had a $48.5 million commitment to him over six years through 2008. He's 32-20 in 72 starts for the team between eight trips to the disabled list.

"When Hampton missed all of the 2006 season, insurance picked up a significant portion of his $13.5 million salary. There's a belief that under some circumstances insurance could cover some of this year's $14.5 million salary. But Schuerholz chose not to comment on this."

perhaps the early success of Davies, James, et al played a part in this decision on the part of Hampton and on the part of the front office allowing it, if in fact they did

From the AJC today. Atleast the Braves won't be fully responsible for his worthless ass again this season. I bet the insurance company that agreed to a policy on Hampton is kicking itself in the balls right now.

i can't imagine anyone believes our rotation is set after six games

--

also, the doctor operating on hampton this time is the same one who operated on him last time

and he's the mets team doctor

A lot of people think this might be the worst team in the history of the sport. Even worse than the '62 Mets. I feel bad for Zimmerman.

these guys won't win 45 games

tim hudson looks awesome tonight

francoeur still has no patience but is dangerous on 0-2 counts

brian mccann is my hero

randy st. claire (former pitcher for the expos, braves, and others and current natspos pitching coach) sounds like the name of a porn star

great 8th inning. I am going to go ahead and say the braves move to 6-1 and still in sole possesion of first place in the east. VERY NIIIICE.

Another strong win for the Braves last night, but let's recap how horrible the Nats have been this season. They have now been outscored 53-18, have fallen behind at least 3-0 in every game, and have not scored in the first 3 innings in any game. Holy damn this team is horrendous

They also have yet to lead a game yet. They are 1-7, but the win came on an RBI single to win the game. Amazing...

yeah but we can't keep a guy hitting .100 on the leadoff spot... that's a guy that we have to be able to get a .350 - .400 from.
