i like the idea of fisher as HC/OC and pellini as DC
i also like the idea of johnson since we would most likely not have to find another DC after the first year.

Donnan would be a good short solution. Maybe 5 years at most. He did well at Georgia in my eyes.
I would love to have 8-win seasons. 11/29/2006 8:11:29 PM |

so if he's getting 8 wins every season, you fire him after 5 years anyway? i stick to donnan being as good a candidate as anyone.

I thought the same thing about Donnan so I asked the statefannation guys to see what they thought
Quote : | "I don't know anything about Donnan being linked to the job when Sheridan stepped down in 1993. Sheridan stepped aside in the middle of the summer - basically forcing State to pick from someone on his current staff.
Donnan DID turn down the job in December of 1999/Jan 2000 after Cowher turned it down. That is how we ended up with Chuck. Donnan and Les Robinson
Donnan evidently has made a lot of people in Raleigh mad over the years. He really complained a lot - some about officiating and once quipping that an "engineering school should be able to have a clock that works right" (paraphrased) - when he lost two games in Raleigh while coaching Marshall,
He has also made it clear through the years that he has coveted the Head Job at Carolina - maybe more than the one at State. That doesn't sit well.
There are more reasons that folks don't like Donnan, but I don't really know what they are (other than personality)." |

this is referring to Norm Chow as a coaching possibility.. their are alot of rumors that after this season Pete Carroll could very possibly head back to the NFL as coach of the Cardinals. Do you think theirs a chance that he decides this sooner rather than later, calls Chow to be his O.C. and Chow doesnt accept us or ASU's offer? Just an interesting thought.

An article from the Wilmington Star News.... who is this guy?
http://starnewsonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061130/NEWS/611300404/1005/SPORTS0701
Quote : | " Barnett sees right time, place at State By Andrew Jones, Star-News Correspondent
If Gary Barnett gets back into coaching, N.C. State is a job he would like to have.
In a telephone interview Wednesday afternoon, Barnett said no N.C. State representative had called, but he would be willing to discuss the position that opened after Chuck Amato's firing over the weekend.
"I am interested in getting back into coaching," Barnett said. "But, it's got to be the right school.
"N.C. State would be a great job and I'd be interested in it."
Barnett believes the ACC is a great league for coaches and that it's the right time to enter into the conference.
"With the ACC being in the position it is in, not a dominant conference this year, this is a good time to get in there," he said. "Butch Davis is at North Carolina, and he's a great coach, but (Wake Forest coach) Jim Grobe may be in position to move."
Barnett coached at Northwestern from 1991-98 and posted a 35-45-1 record, but he took a program once considered the worst in the nation to the Rose Bowl in 1995 and to a Big Ten co-championship the following year.
He coached at Colorado from 1999-2005 and led the Buffaloes to four appearances in the Big 12 title game, posting a 49-39 overall record.
Barnett's time at Colorado was met with controversy, including poor player conduct and a recruiting scandal. He was suspended by the school for using derogatory terms when talking about female kicker Katie Hnida, who had accused a teammate of sexual assault.
Barnett withstood the controversy and seemed stable in his job late in the 2005 season, when Colorado was the Big 12 North champion. He was forced out after three consecutive defeats to end the regular season, including losses to Nebraska and Texas in which the Buffaloes were outscored by a combined total of 100-6. Barnett received a $3 million settlement from Colorado.
For the past year, Barnett spent time as a national radio color analyst calling college football games weekly for Sports Radio USA.
The former Big 12 and Big Ten Coach of the Year said sitting out a year and observing football has given him a different perspective of the game. But he's not yet sure it's made him a better coach.
"Until you get back in you won't know," said Barnett, 60. "You have to prove you're better. I see it from a different perspective, and that could be good." " |

Quote : | "In 1999, Barnett left Northwestern to become the 22nd head coach of Colorado. His career at Colorado was generally successful, but a recruiting scandal tarnished his reputation. Colorado was alleged that recruits were enticed to come to Colorado with sex and alcohol during recruiting visits causing the school to self-impose harsher recruiting rules than any other Division I-A school. That scandal, coupled with Barnett's dismissive comments about former placekicker Katie Hnida, who alleged that she had been raped by a teammate, led to Barnett's temporary suspension in 2004 during the off-season. Barnett was reinstated before the start of the 2004 season, and went on to coach the team to an 8-5 record, earning Big 12 Coach of the Year honors along the way. Barnett is more commonly known for these two events than his coaching performance." |

Quote : | "And of course, “Coach” being “Coach,” Fowler just took time out to blather to The Technician that other than finding a new football coach, its those dratted Internet fans who are – are you ready for this? – the biggest challenge to NC State athletics:
But other than that, the biggest challenge? It’s probably the message boards on the Internet. There is so much negative stuff coming off the boards, and I think that drives the newspapers. Then the papers are constantly chasing stuff that’s being talked about on the Internet. But I think that’s the biggest challenge facing all ADs. There are so many people on the Internet, and you never know who they are. You don’t know if they are affiliated with N.C. State in any way.
Listen up, “Coach,” and listen well: I’m “affiliated” with NC State through the degree that hangs on my wall, among other items – an affiliation which, I note in passing, you yourself lack. And based solely on your past performance, I don’t believe you are the best person to take the lead on this coaching search.
One cascade of national humiliation is quite enough, thank you. " |
DAMN TWW, YOU ARE MESSING UP NC STATE. Can we put together a rally or something calling for Fowlers head?

ok, I give over $1000 per year to NCSU and the wolfpack club, it's not alot, but more than I should spend on this university at this point in my life
along with alot of other people that also happen to post on message boards
I understand that I don't get to sit on the BOT, I don't care, maybe one day I'll be at that level of giving, I sure hope that I am and when I am able to, I'll give plenty to this university that I love and has gotten me to where I am
but he needs to stop with that shit, people pay hard earned money for this, and in 2006 there are outlets to vent how you feel about the direction of a program
I know he's pissed that he is hearing flak from people other than vaughn and murphy, but he needs to get over it or get the fuck out
