question: (spoiler)

why did that all spark cube thing only make 'bad' robots out of our technology?

^ (obviously spoilers ahead)

I think that it's because the Sector 7 people didn't know how to properly operate the Allspark. I don't think that it made "evil" robots per se, just that it makes robots that are unstable. Like they're blank slates that just mindlessly destroy everything. I'm willing to bet that the Autobots and Decepticons could unleash the Allspark's full potential and make more Autobots and Decepticons respectively.

Question. SPOILERS

After Sam thrusts the cube into Megatron's chest, thus killing him, Optimus Prime says something along the lines of, "I'm sorry my brother." Is he saying this to Megatron because he is opposed of killing anything, regardless of whether it is friend or foe?

hey space out your question from your preface about it being a spoiler^ just a friendly tip.

^ ANSWER TO SPOILERS>>>>

no i think its because they go back a ways. they probably have some sort of history on Cybertron (which i believe is true to G1, but i forget exact details) such as being comrades before Megatron became a dick.

end.

awesome. will watch again. i don't remember enough about the series to take issue with any discontinuities.

the only product placement that thought was over the top was the GM cars. There were several shots which looked like they could have doubled for a cheverolet commercial. even still, it didn't bother me as much as i thought it would.

My friends and I that saw it last night were trying to figure out what city they were in at the end, considering they drove there from the Hoover Dam. I guess Vegas, although it looked nothing like it.

Very enjoyable movie.

Yeah, the opening scene in Qatar. I was like "Wow. There's V-22s on the movie screen."

Just a couple of thoughts.

1. I've seen toy packaging which states that Starscream is the only Decepticon survivor, but that doesn't make a lot of sense. What happened to Barricade? He's seen chasing the "convoy" as it heads toward the city, but then isn't seen again. And how about Scorponok? He burrowed underground and then isn't seen again. Scorponok seems to have taken much more damage than any of the others, and yet he would appear to escape.

2. If anyone remembers the 80's cartoon, the Decepticons had an undersea base while they were attempting to build the Space Bridge. Kind of a nice touch to drop them in the Mariana Trench where you just know they'll be back.

3. WTF were Ironhide and Ratchet doing during the last battle? You don't see them at all until after Megatron is defeated. (I suppose I could believe that they were dealing with the Xbox and Mountain Dew Transformers. LOL.)

4. The designers and CGI modelers of the "new" Transformers stated that they didn't want to have any sort of mass shifting. (i.e. Megatron's robot mode being huge, but transforms into a hangdun). And yet the Allspark is capable of doing exactly that?

The sequel has already been greenlit, so I'm curious as to what we may see in the next one. I'd be very surprised if Megatron retains his "jet-thing" form. I'd love to see a Jetfire vs. Starscream battle, too. Starscream was so severely disappointing in this movie.

I'm going to agree with Arab13 here. Essentailly, every African American character in the movie was a buffoon or some other stereotype. Bernie Mac was a seedy car salesman who referred to his freaking Mom as his MAMMY for God's sake... Arab13 already mentioned the fat black kid running from the swat team like a total buffoon... the hacker's mom was the stereotypical "mean Black mom in control" character... need I say more? I can't remember any African American characters in the movie who were the least bit dignified.

And, yes, Jazz was DEFINITELY the "black" robot... his name and his dialect are dead give-aways.

Wasnt he only in that form because he didnt have the chance to copy anything before he was frozen, and then after he was thawed he didnt have a reason to camoflauge (someone probably already mentioned this, but whatever, throwing it out there regardless). Maybe he will be a tank like he was in another version of Transformers (Armada?), but theres already a tank...

I watched a little of the episodes on the tv-links link someone posted...Im really glad they didnt make it so all the Transformers could fly. I always thought that made the fact Starscream could turn into a jet completely pointless. Still needed a little Transformers Theme by Lion or The Touch

Exactly. He didn't have an opportunity to pick an Earth-based alternate mode. I wouldn't be too surprised if he took on some Galvatron-like attributes. I can't really see them going the Beast Wars route (Tyrannosaurus and later, dragon)... but then again, that'd be an interesting way to put the Dinobots into the story.

I kind of wondered that too when I saw the movie. It seemed to me like the transformers could just turn into whatever they wanted, so why wouldn't they turn into something that can fly?

"as a fan of G1, this is nothing comparable to the G1 series or any of the post G1 series.

to say we should appreciate this is something laughable. this movie left a lot to be desired.

starscream got no screen time? bumble bee is a camero? at least they didnt make megatron into a tank"

as a fan of the original G1 who has watched it as an adult and remembers just how cheesy and silly that half hour toy advertisement was, i appreciated this movie...

Optimus overexplaining things in monologues... Spike/Sam coming up with some of the corniest lines known to man... Bumblebee smacking around a VW Beetle (I personally loved that, but I think only like 3 of us in the theater caught it)...

The movie was fine, better than I expected actually (Although I wanted Scorponok to be bigger, but he's still alive and could come back for a sequel, so that makes me happy)...

Starscream getting no screentime isn't entirely true. He did the only thing Starscream ever does, he failed Megatron and was chastised for it. He then proceeded to take out 4 air force fighters, mainly by jumping on them. Hopefully, he'll be back with reinforcements in the next one looking to take out Optimus...

I enjoyed the movie, but I found some stuff silly, like the fact Shia was trying to be all polite to his parents while 4-5 big-ass robots waited on him to help them save the universe. Optimus introducing the robots felt a lot like in cartoons where everyone introduces themselves and then fires off a line to give you a hint of their one-dimensional personality.

The product placement did get on my nerves. A couple of isolated instances wouldn't bother me that much, but it felt like there was blatant product placement every 5-10 minutes. Product placement in a movie justs pulls me out of the experience.

Overall very good movie though.

I liked the movie, but as a G1 fan, I wanted to see the trio of Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker flying in the air and attacking the F22's. Not a bad movie, but I hope they don't try to make a sequel.

There wasn't even that. We got descriptions, not character snapshots. I just wanted Ironhide to want to bust Deceptichops.

^ Are you kidding? They're already in preproduction on the second one and a third one is likely.

.

Having the Allspark go from huge to small was pointless. They should have just left it the size of a basketball from the start. Plus the cube animation was lame, it was the kind of crap you see in cellphone commercials.

The absolutely dumbest moment out of the ENTIRE film was when Sam finds out about the hot chick's criminal past and has a fucking issue with it. Come the fuck on! He's surround by giant alien robots and government g-men and has to pause and act shocked that the bitch stole a car! It made NO sense and was completely out of place. At the very least any chick who steals cars (or has a dad who does or whatever) will probably suck your dick.

Also, if the DVD release doesn't included extensive material on special-effects and some concept art and designs it's gonna be a huge letdown. I read that the effects team worked on Bumblebee's design by actually dismantling a Camaro and reassembling it into a robot.

^ I went to see it again last night at 10, and the audience was 98% Black. The most striking difference between my first viewing with a White audience and my second viewing with a Black audience is that the Black audience LOVED Bernie Mac... laughed at him hysterically. With the White audience, you could hear crickets... no laughter at all. I fucking hate Bernie Mac, and as I said in my post above, he's nothing but a modern day minstrel buffooning his way into $$$. I really don't understand how anyone can find him funny... The audience also laughed hysterically when the fat Black dude was running from the cops

Wow... that's a hell of a haul. I often wish I had kept my toys in better condition so I could sell them now, but I played with them to the point of destruction. I had about 10 G1 transformer toys, but I don't even know where they are now. The only toys I collected and kept in packages were some of the X-Men figures, but for some reason, they aren't worth shit.
