Awesome...GES beat expectations for the quarter, raised expectations for the year, announced a stock split (meh), AND announced a new quarterly dividend. Up almost 5% in after hours.

I don't own either XMSR or SIRI but I'm curious what tomorrow will bring for both.

Hopefully TIE will keep going up like it's been doing recently. My policy of holding on is slowly starting to pay off: so far I'm up 24% with TIE and up 23% with STX. While my GOOG is up 36% I've been slightly disappointed as of late. I've seen it hit $500 several times now and haven't sold any just hoping that it'd break the magic barrier and keep going. $500 would give me a ~45% increase...don't get me wrong, I'm happy with 36% but I'm also a greedy capitalist. Coming up in late March I'll have held it for a year, and if I sell it after then it'll be considered a long-term capital gain (assuming it doesn't drop below my buying point).

If Delta goes back up in the near future, I'm going to sell. I don't want my shares canceled if they come out of bankruptcy later this year.

4.6 shares of SIRI for each share of XMSR (21% Premium). Will the merger be approved?

Even if the merger is approved, how long before we will be able to listen to stations that were previously on the company that we didn't originally have service with....ie if we have XM when will we be able to get Sirius stations? Aren't they talking 3-5 years before that would happen? So it will still be two totally different services until then right?

seeing as how nothing spectacular happened today I'll just stay long on SIRI. I think theyre already cash flow positive and considering their low churn rate should continue to stay that way.
i doubt the merger will go through but we'll see.

I bought SIRI around the time that they picked up howard stern.

It took a nice dip soon after and has been chugging around $4 as long as i can remember.

I went ahead and picked up some more ETV today at 20.09.

Its a solid little ETF that hasn't had much growth (and probably never will) but it pays a 10% dividend so its nice to sit on.

Why did TIE go up so much today? I also have SIRI and XMSR, so today was a good day . Hopefully they translate to long term gains.

(up ~30% over 6 months)

I posted an analysis on it a page or three ago, but the gist of it was last quarter's revenues jumped 37% YOY, and projected 20% YOY revenue growth in the current quarter.

Then there's the 6.81 P/E

KOMG makes the thin-film media used in HDDs, and is a major supplier to Seagate, Western Digital, and Hitachi, which accounts for a very large chunk of the HDD market.

I personally use TDAmeritrade.

http://www.poweretrade.com
http://www.fidelity.com
http://www.scottrade.com
http://www.ShareBuilder.com
http://www.tdameritrade.com
http://www.schwab.com

Comparison of some brokers: http://www.fool.com/dbc/tables/compare.htm

You'll have to look at the websites to see what the minimum account balances are. Look carefully at the fees as well; some have account inactivity fees (require a minimum number of trades per quarter) and others have specific requirements (trade volume, account balance, etc.) that need to be met in order to get low priced trades. Your bank may also offer some broker-type services as well.

^^ I've been watching SBUX and contemplating myself when to jump in. I was hoping to let it fall a little more (say $30-$31 range) before I got in though.

...and look at the brokers' etfs.

but, if i had to pick one and only one, i'd pick Goldman.

I've been eyeing JPM as a replacement for GE in my Dow stocks.

I sold CTSH today for +51%. I was happy with that one.

yeah, i'm up 32.5% on CTSH...just waiting for the 1 year mark and hoping it doesn't fall before them. i'm not too worried about not getting a good return on that one, though, and I'll probably look to jump back in it on a dip.

you guys ever watch Fast Money? its pretty good. get insights from 4 fund managers/traders instead of just one. sometimes they start busting on each other and it gets funny. its on weeknights at 8 on cnbc.

^ I haven't seen it, but I'll try to check it out.

Anyone own or watch PDS?

They're a Canadian drilling and oilfield services company.

low p/e: 5.91
nice dividend: 8.7%
way off their 52 week high, and a couple of bucks above their 52 week low.

Nope, but they look like a potential buy.
Anyone still own STX other than me? I just got my dividends the other day. $10, woohoo.
Is there a way to tell Scottrade to automatically reinvest my dividends? My full service account does this but I'm not sure how to get Scottrade to do it.

So lets just say that one plans on buying a large amount of SPY as a no hassle investment in the near future.. would you advise against this, maybe wait a few months?

looks like the market's gonna start off on the right foot

Quote :
"S&P futures vs fair value: +4.2. Nasdaq futures vs fair value: +9.8. The stage remains set for stocks to open sharply higher as news of the largest private-equity deal ever helps to silence concerns about current valuations and recent talks that a correction or consolidation is long overdue. Meanwhile, Apple (AAPL) is up 1% in pre-market action following upbeat commentary out of Goldman Sachs about iPhone sales prospects. Technology is getting an additional boost from Yahoo! (YHOO) after comScore said ad click through rates have risen after the launch of Project Panama."
