1) arbitor as AI teammate is a moron
2) arbitor storyline is completely dropped
3) next to last level is supposed to be one of the worst levels designed in a halo game

So if you are getting this mostly for multiplayer (which I think we are), I think we're good

good Q CarZin...I'm not sure anyone knows how to answer. My guess is that if you don't have a preorder, there's not a super chance you'll get one tonight at midnight. Even if you preorder at certain spots like I did at bestbuy in crabtree you won't. Definitely won't at gamestop/eb b/c they don't give out shit without a preorder regardless of release time it seems. Def. nazi's about that.

But if you want to another launch, say the Best Buy in Cary or Garner that are reportedly having midnight launches you might stand a better chance. Again, no one knows for sure but this stuff has been tossed around.

^^no idea on that one, I'm guessing a pre-order. Gamestop at crossroads has about 400 pre-orders so the line will be HUGE. However, you should go to best buy in crossroads at midnight because from my experience, thats the place i've always gone for midnight releases without a pre-order and they've always had TONS of copies left over. In-fact not many people even went there for midnight releases. Its first come first serve.

Let's cut the crap. Cut the platform advocacy, cut the ranting of Internet storm-troopers on behalf of multinational corporations who don't care if they live or die. Cut the agonized wailing and gnashing of teeth over whether something is "game of the year" or just "really good".

And yet, hype machine aside, cutting through the crap about console wars and the like, what we find in Halo 3 is quite simply this - the best game yet in one of the best FPS franchises of the era.

Better than either of its predecessors, Halo 3 still can't quite escape the category of flawed masterpiece - but this time around, the flaws are so minor that even the most churlish of reviewers would be hard pressed to mark the game down.

I'm sure that if this is a widespread problem they will offer replacements (assuming all the ones you get exchanges for are scratched as well), but still could put a sour note on the biggest release of this console generation.

oh, no idea. In the past you just line up outside a little before 12am. The reason why best buy is better at midnight releases is because you don't have 400 people crammed in one tiny store with 2 registers. They have more space and more employees to handle it. Also not alot of people know about their midnight releases.

my opinion of halo has always been that it is the best possible implementation of generic

tight coding and technical merits making for an extremely smooth experience but utterly uncreative for the most part where gameplay is concerned (I'll give them some credit on the vehicles when they were first introduced)


not that you have to reinvent the genre and infact there are a few series I don't really want to make wild leaps (Zelda, Final Fantasy) but halo could stand to try a little harder in this aspect

^^that's what I think, it is the best game where you can immerse yourself in the simplistic environment and go at it with as few bells and whistles as possible. No complicated cover moves, button combinations, etc. Just move, aim, shoot, throw grenade, and melee, simple shit. The weapons are simple and don't have any gimics.

Now for a game that changes the genre, I'd go with Gears of War because of the cover system, but that's about it...

if i remember right, there's a fps that is multiplayer only but i don't know what the name is

the single player mode is the same as multiplayer, just with bots in place of humans
