For those who hate ND....Weis is suing 2 doctors after he had gastric bypass surgery. The surgery allowed him to lose 90 lbs which he credits for getting him the ND head coaching job. Never did like that lard ass.

yeah...
list is old, and you can debate the exact location of some of them, but the general areas that they're in i'd agree with (except Meyer, since he's proven himself as a BCS Gameday coach).

^^Hopefully Dunlap becomes that go-to receiver this year....he has NFL talent/size.

We need consistency at QB though so he can show his stuff enough to get drafted.

^^That was a very good interview. Darrell seems to be very articulate, he did a great job fielding the questions asked of him. He seems like a smart guy with his head on straight. I wish him (and all the PACK seniors) the best.

I really hope TOB utilizes Blackman offensively. Special teams let him do what he does, but he should be a prime threat for opposing defenses.

In almost exactly 44 days the opening kickoff will be happening right about now. I can't wait.

On a side note, tOSU rented out Texas' Frank Erwin Center (where the Longhorns play basketball) just to have a pep rally. In the video you can see that they even filled in the upper deck. The arena holds around 16k, so there's got to be at least 8k people in there from the looks of the video.

That was for the game last year, where OSU went to Texas as part of the return trip for the home and home that the two schools agreed upon. The 2005 game had the in-Vince-able Texas team ranked #2 in the country went in to hostile Ohio Stadium to take on the #4 ranked Buckeyes, and became the first non-conference team to win at Ohio Stadium since 1990, ending a 36-game home victory string over non-conference opponents for the Buckeyes. It was the one game that solidified everyone on Texas being the clear cut challenger to USC for the national title and excitement for the national championship game built up over the rest of the season. It was only the second game of the season for both teams and set a then all-time largest Ohio Stadium crowd of 105,565, which was later broken in 2006 as #2 Michigan came to town to take on the #1 Buckeyes.

The 2006 game was a reversal of the 2005 game. In this game, which was also the second game of the season for both teams, Ohio State came in ranked #1 and a favorite for the national championship, while #2 Texas (who many think earned the #2 ranking to build hype, despite them losing superman QB Vince Young who was the heart and soul of the previous year's national championship team) was still a contender, but nowhere near a favorite to win it all. Ohio State would end up trouncing Texas 24-7 under the lights of Darrel K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, and end up taking everyones best shot from here on out.

Toney and Andre should seriously do the Shake and Bake fist pound after they score. It wouldn't be any worse than the "starting a lawn mower" looking thing that LenDale White and Reggie Bush did while at USC.

^That's one penalty I'm OK with. It's a dumbass rule for the most part, and if we had to commit a penalty that's the one I'd want it to be.

unfortunately, its enforced on the kickoff so in some instances (see: 2006 Akron loss ) it can really bite us in the ass

if they did it next to the NC State bench after running back to the sidelines after the TD then they probably wouldn't get the celebration penalty...

see thats the kind of discipline TOB needs to enforce -

wait till you're back on the sideline to act like its your first TD ever

maybe my expectations are too high, but the way I see it if ladanian tomlinson can score TD after TD and set all kinds of records, and every time just turn around and give the ref the football then theres no reason some college kids who aren't 1/2 of what he is should be able to react the same way. i'm all for celebration, but when the ncaa has it as one of its points of emphasis you shouldn't push the limits.

this picture made me LOL:

its from a pretty good artice in todays N & O:

Quote :
" DURHAM - In a few months, N.C. State's Tom O'Brien and North Carolina's Butch Davis will be matching wits on the football field.

But Thursday the two new Big Four coaches were just witty at the fifth annual Triangle Pigskin Preview at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel.

Before joining first-year N.C. Central head coach Mose Rison and Duke's Ted Roof at the head table, Davis and O'Brien huddled for a jovial, playful photo session.

"If we shake hands we'll probably get fired," Davis quipped.

O'Brien popped two fingers behind Davis' head, creating a "bunny ears" look for the Carolina coach. Spotting Davis with hands folded beneath his chin, O'Brien observed: "He's praying. There's a subliminal message."

Davis turned and saluted O'Brien, a former Marine officer with a straight-laced style -- and a sense of humor. The coaches knew each other from previous meetings and competing in the Big East. Both seemed to enjoy Thursday's levity -- along with a record crowd of 450 people -- at an event sponsored by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.

"It's nice to be in the land of grits and no socks year around,'' said O'Brien, who wore a navy coat, red tie -- and no socks. Davis donned a Carolina blue tie and pin-striped, navy coat.

Seated at the head table, they were separated by Roof, who has the longest tenure at a Big Four school and cracked, "You don't know how glad I am to be here."

The program included all four coaches fielding questions on subjects ranging from football to dancing to the war in Iraq.

A sample:

* Asked about their top perk, O'Brien didn't mention salary, facilities or fanfare.

He said it was watching NCSU women's basketball coach Kay Yow, "her courage ... her pride" while battling breast cancer.

"She stands for everything that is great about the Wolfpack nation,'' O'Brien said. "To watch her go through this year and what she did with that basketball team; ... I'm blessed and happy [to have] gotten to know her and watch her and listen to her speak.

"That's the best thing that's happened to me as a member of the N.C. State family."

* On the quarterback position, Davis said incoming freshman Mike Paulus will get close scrutiny along with Cameron Sexton and T.J. Yates, who emerged as the the leading candidates in spring practice.

"We'll certainly give [Paulus] an opportunity,'' Davis said. "We're not going to forejudge any of these guys. I want it to be open competition."

* On whether they would like to host "Saturday Night Live," Davis responded: "I have no ability to do that. [And] if I have a chance to go to bed at 10 o'clock Saturday night, I'm glad to go to bed."

* Asked to give their golf handicaps, Davis figured a 10, Roof "somewhere around" 15 and O'Brien 17. Rison mentioned handball.

* Helmets from the four schools were auctioned, and guess which one brought the biggest price?

Duke's, for $2,000. N.C. State's and UNC's each sold for $700, and N.C. Central's went for $400.

* In the audience was former successful ACC coach Bill Dooley, who started the Triangle Chapter of the National Football Foundation about 10 years ago.

Dooley, who had a lengthy hospital stay following surgery a year ago, lives in Wilmington and works out three days a week.

He plans to attend football games in the Triangle, as usual, again this season.

(Staff writer Robbi Pickeral contributed to this report.) "

Kickoffs will be on the 30 yard line this year. I was watching the video of the Triangle Pigskin Preview (http://vmedia.rivals.com/uploads/899%5C512111.wmv) and Butch Davis made a good point about how it will affect the game, for the good. While he was an assistant for the Cowboys, the NFL moved kickoffs back from to the 30 yard line and the average starting position for the offense went from the 22 yd line the year before to the 34 yd line.

that is a great rule change. Kickoffs are exciting and return specialists should be weapons not just guys catching the ball and taking a knee in the end zone.
