ESPN talking about Glennon (among many others) agreeing to play in its High School All-American game in January

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/news/story?id=2923206

Although the same article leads one to believe that Glennon isn't an EA Elite 11 QB when I thought he had already made that list. Any one know the deal here?

Quote :
"Two new quarterbacks will play, Mike Glennon (Westfield, Va.) and Nick Crissman (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison). Glennon had a big week, announcing not only that he would play in the game, but that he is also now committed to N.C. State. The Wolfpack's offensive system was a reason why he chose them, but he had a simpler reason for choosing to play in the ESPNU High School All-American Game.

"It just seems like it would be such a good time," said Glennon. "I look at All-Star games as kind of a celebration of all the success, and I think there is no better place to celebrate than Disney World."

With a jam-packed week of activities, the newest addition to the roster was really looking forward to having fun and showing off his ability in the skills competition.

Crissman, a UCLA commit, is one of three expected EA Sports Elite 11 quarterback participants taking part in the game along with Landry Jones (Artesia, N.M.) and E.J. Manuel (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside). "

Anybody have a rivals premium subscription to see whether or not they're saying the same thing?

Anybody know what the scout.com premium article about Manning said, as far as his reasons for narrowing his decision as he has?

We have to jump out then, because we have plenty of playing time to give, our LB core isn't very deep, and with the coaching staff wanting to switch to 3-4, we really need LB's.

The longer he waits the more worried I am about him changing his mind, wish he'd hurry up and make his decision, haha.

I heard the same thing, that he has made up his mind, that his parents have a favorite, and that he's waiting for the right time to call a press conference.

I think it also said something about how he was treated like every other player at our camp, no preferential treatment, and he liked that.

I would guess E.J. Whitley but I am, by no means, a person "in the know" to quote for this kind of information.

Eddie Whitley

has it down to two schools with a visit to one this week

he is pretty much set on NC State. a 4.4 safety with 3 Star rating likely to stay at 3 stars...not a bad pickup at ALLLLL though and an in state kid.

good pickup really if we can land him which i think we can.

Manning and WHitley's decisions are coming up next week around the middle of the week i believe. I feel like it's State for both of them but Whitley going to VT wouldn't suprise me.

RJ Mattes is going to trim down his choices to a top 5 soon and most everybody believes Clemson is the leader with State a little behind. There still is a long way to go however.

Lots of Buzz too that they will turn up there OL/DL recruiting in the future after they landed some skill players. Wallace, Becton, and Mattes would be an awesome start and i think Becton and Wallace will commit somewhere before the season starts probably.

Double Post...

just wanted to re-link this in case anyone wants it....the NC recruit rankings from scout.com

http://recruiting.scout.com/3/2008_North_Carolina.html

Whitley would make 5 top 20 recruits in NC for NC State...I don't know how we did last year but I'm pretty sure thats the best we've had in one class in a long time. Plus, if Manning is really as high on NC State as they say then thats 6, plus the top 2 players in the state.

I figured that everyone knew what I meant, because a verbal commitment is just a promise to ink.

At any rate, why is everyone thinking that Mattes will possibly go here? He attended camps at UNC and USC only. (as per scout.com) I mean it would be great pick up, but it looks as if we are farther down the list. With Clemson at the top, and then UNC or USC.

Wallace and Becton would be a nice pick up. So from what I am understanding, other than Mattes and Manning, 4* recruits seem out of the picture.

^^it's also july num nuts

i think ppl think that just b/c we got a lot of commitments that our recruiting is almost over. ITS ONLY JULY. We have never had this many commitments this early ever. If State does well on the field you will see names come out of no where that are big timers. (4* or better)

most of the buzz is that we are recruiting NC first then branching out.........soooooooooo i bet in the next few months you see a piss load of new names coming up from neighboring states

Whitley to Announce Decision Next Week: VT or NC State?
Nick Stevens - ncsportsreport.com

Posted: Today at 10:41 a.m.

Correction: Dwayne Maddox committed to NC State.

Eddie Whitley, a 6-1, 185 pound safety from Matthews Butler, will announce where he is going to college sometime next week.

Whitley has narrowed his list down to two schools: Virginia Tech and NC State. Sources have told WRAL that Whitley has been in contact with NC State commit Dwayne Maddox and target Terrell Manning. According to a report published on Rivals.com, Whitley and Manning have a close relationship, and some speculate that could have an impact on where they end up playing football.

Whitley will take one last visit to Blacksburg with his parents before making his decision. Whitley said that his parents haven't been to Tech, and he wants them to see it and talk to the coaches before he makes his decision.

So, what does Whitley see in both schools?

Whitley told Rivals.com that he liked the Hokies because it was a true football school - something we already know. He also liked the tradition that comes along with playing at Virginia Tech, and the fact that "the coaches have been there for awhile and I like them a lot. It's a stable environment."

Could that have an impact when Whitley considers the Wolfpack? Since 1990, the Wolfpack have not had a very stable football program, and now they are starting with a brand new coach, who brings with him a brand new style of coaching. Whitley does see the positives in the Wolfpack, though. "Their defense has the most NFL experience amongst anybody in the ACC and what better defensive coach to have than coach Reed."

Whitley recorded 105 tackles, six interceptions, and 12 pass break-ups. Whitley can run the forty in 4.4 seconds, can bench 250 pounds, squat 365 pounds, and has a 34 inch vertical. The only camp Whitley has attended, according to Scout.com, is the Virginia Tech camp.

OK, my statement was a little misleading from what I intended to say...I meant that there are no 4* recruits in the picture for the near future. I didn't mean to say that we were out of the running for every 4* or greater recruit for the rest of the year. I was more or less trying to get a feel for what the recruiting scene looked like right now.

made it sound like it was a lot more than just Manning and Whitley too

if yall are in to the recruiting stuff i'd recomend getting a subscription to packpride or the wolfpacker b/c its fun to keep up with it. PPl can say what they want a/b it but thats where i am at almost 24/7. And theres a LOT more info you'd find out over there than on here

Whitley is ours.....he didnt even make the trip to blacksburg this weekend. He wants to hold his press conference on the 23rd or 24th....i would venture to guess that manning will announce the same day or so. I say they're both ours.

Whitley canceled his visit to VT, so I think barring a catastrophe, he's ours, and I think Manning wants the sunlight whenever he announces, So I'd assume he'll wait a few days after Whitley announces.
