recently my wife and i discovered my curve screws up my twc box on the nbc hd channel (217). if i place/receive a call while standing within 8 ft or so, the screen screws up and takes digital hits to the feed. this also affects the dvring of the channel as well. i assume it's something with the radio frequency hitting the shitty sa-8300 box. anyone else noticed anything like this (more than just placing your phone next to speakers/microphones)?

so i've really been interested in getting a smart phone lately. Read the last few pages of this thread. I'm on AT&T so my choices are the bold, curve, and pearl. i dont really like the pearl and i don't get an upgrade discount until 8/09 so that really kinda puts the bold out of reach.
how crippling is lack of wi-fi and 3G network as far as viewing videos and things like that? With an unlimited data plan, i guess speed is the only major drawback?
also, those on AT&T...if you don't mind what is your average monthly bill? 12/11/2008 11:31:23 AM |

i have the curve on at&t (8310). i did the 4.5 update on it so i can see youtube videos. it's a little flakey, but it does work to an extent. i don't stream music, though i know it's possible. i'd like to have 3G, but it's ok without. it can be time consuming to use the internet- the internal browser is shit, but opera mini is a little better. i can't recall my bill off the top of my head- will get back to you on that
honestly though, you might want to reevaluate your options once 08/09 rolls around. do i like my curve? sure, but i wouldn't buy it again. 12/11/2008 11:55:20 AM |

TreeTwista10, I emailed my IT guy about using a Blackberry for our corporate email. I will post what he responded below. I think I understand, but can you tell me if this is a big deal or anything?
Quote : | "There are actually two ways to do this. The people using blackberry are using MS Outlook to redirect their email to the blackberry device. This is not the best method because it requires maintaining both MS Outlook and your blackberry. The best method is using a PDA device that actually logs on the MS Exchange server in the same way you access MS Outlook Access like you do over the internet. Because you are accessing the mail server whatever happens on the PDA also happens in MS Outlook.
Did you already buy a blackberry? If not, I would look into a PDA style phone over the blackberry. " |

Sounds like you don't have a Blackberry Enterprise Server at your company
I have a number of other email accounts setup on my Blackberry aside from my company account. I have my Yahoo and GMail accounts also on there. But I don't think you can use the Blackberry's Web Client to access email on an exchange server. If you don't have a BES server at work which it sounds like you don't, your Outlook email and BB email won't be synchronized 12/16/2008 11:42:34 AM |

well balls, that is not good to hear. Yeah it sounds like we do not have a BES at all then. This may cause me to rethink my decision 12/16/2008 11:49:20 AM |

You may actually be able to setup a webclient account with your exchange server by just putting mail.whateveryourdomainis.com for your POP3 and SMTP servers in your webclient setup...one of my buddies does it that way...he has his BB synched with an exchange server and no BES 12/16/2008 3:21:02 PM |

will that keep both inboxes synced? like if i delete from my blackberry will it still delete from my outlook? or will i have to keep tabs on both? 12/16/2008 3:31:59 PM |

Heres what setup I would recommend on your Blackberry, with the choices bolded to synch your Outlook and BB:
Email Reconciliation Message Services ......your email account with your company Delete On: Handheld, Mailbox & Handheld, Prompt Wireless Reconcile: Off, On On Conflicts: Handheld Wins, Mailbox Wins 12/16/2008 3:46:09 PM |

OK I got a question...has anyone ever configured a BlackBerry to have synched email from two different BES Servers, each with their own separate Exchange Server? Guy had a Blackberry on one server/domain/email address, reconciling through a BES Server tied into Exchange...then I added that BlackBerry to another BES Server for another email/domain...he gets messages sent to each email address on his Blackberry, but it seems like he can only reply/send from one address, and that that one address changes depending on when the IT Policy is sent from each BES...anybody know anything about this? 12/18/2008 5:29:31 PM |

dont listen to this clown. all he cares about is job security, and not making sure you have a good working phone.
Exchange active sync will without a doubt drain your battery completely by 5:00 every day. And thats with average usage.
Blackberry webclient works very well and it does sync your deleted items. The only down side is that it doesnt sync your sent items.
Blackberry batteries will last at least a day and a half, if not two full days.

one step people miss is deleting the vendor.xml file (that is if sprint's curve even has that)
oh and to add to a previous post- marko's iphone also messes up his nbc hd feed as well.

I haven't seen 4.5.0.124 in the wild yet. Did they fix the youtube bug from 101? There are several amazing themes for 4.5.0.xxx, generally I run something emulating the storm or bold. Also a cool feature is that you can use 16gb micro sd cards. 12/29/2008 2:14:58 PM |

Is there a way to take songs you bought from the Sprint store and make the a ringtone? SOmeone I know just got a blackberry, and when you go to choose a ringtone, it doesn't let you navigate to anything before the /ringtone directory. 12/29/2008 11:10:15 PM |

Does it allow you to have access to the .mp3? You can use media manager to move the file into the ringtone folder. That's how I make my own. 12/29/2008 11:36:55 PM |
