I met her once at one of Ratna's parties. She seemed like a sweet enough girl.

Rest in peace, Emily

you can always get a cab to stop by an ATM too, if you can't pay by card.

I imagine this was a situation where they both were intoxicated. Maybe Emily knew she couldn't drive but might not have been aware enough to realize that her friend was drunk, too. I've seen that happen before and it takes good eyes on the part of the party host or bartender to keep it stuff like this from happening.

I guess the lesson is have a DD, and if you are a DD...don't drink at all. I've also seen many DD's say they will have one and end up having six...but still claim they can drive.

BTW, I did know Emily via classes. The above is pretty much my response.

so we should babysit those who are too stupid to realize that there are consequences to every action?

Sucks she died, but its her own fault. You just don't ride with people who have been drinking.

She did, and paid the price.

I didn't say she deserved it, I said she was at fault too.

There is a big difference.

Apparently you can't see that.

Theres a lot of judgemental assholes in here.

I've ridden with drunk drivers countless times, and I've been fortunate enough not to die yet. Hell, I've driven drunk countless times as well. I try not to, but when I get really drunk I have bad judgement sometimes.

Please don't kill anyone but yourself with your 'bad judgment.'

I don't mean that (well yeah I do) but seriously, what's your point? That had nothing to do with anything...

That was more of an admission of guilt than support of my point

However, I think it's stupid to be all reactionary and say "she was stupid for getting in a car with a drunk driver" or "the driver should go to jail for 20+ years", especially when we all make bad decisions from time to time.

^^ I suppose we should just slap the girl's hand who is at fault? Oh no problem... just a mistake, nothing to see here, pay your $50 fine and exit the courthouse.

What's reactionary about it being stupid for her to get in a car with a drunk driver? It IS stupid to get into a car with a drunk driver.

Granted, we don't know if the DUI right now is a legitimate one or an underage legal limit case, but neither situation is a particularly good one to put yourself in.

We all make bad decisions in our lives. That doesn't carry to the conclusion that we all make bad decisions on par with driving drunk.

Ok... I agree. We don't know the circumstances yet and so I'm not going to pass judgment. That said, people make decisions everyday and making certain decisions inherently puts yourself in danger. While we feel bad for the people and their loved ones (the Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock comes to mind) these situations all too often can be avoided.

I'm very very sorry to hear this. Every time I saw her she was extremely nice.

I wonder if any pics she took with my camera are still on there.

I know this sounds bad and completely invalid, but supposedly a friend's friend has an insider and says that she is in a vegetative state and has been declared brain dead. Not dead yet. I know this sounds like the whole "my brother's barber's mistress' mother said" but just a rumored update.

Because those fuckers turn the smallest things into a fucking race issue. Hell, a black guy probably installed the video camera, and they will try and act like the white girl crashed into it because it was installed by a black man.

Silly shit like that.

the funny thing is that I never met her face to face. Only on this website. She used to be much more of a regular one-two years ago (back when I was another screen name ), but she was always pleasant, despite all of the hell she took, especially in the ATTN: Duchess thread (which I think has since been deleted).

If you dont feel bad for her & her family, you have no heart.

This is really sad, and the first person to pass away that posted on t-dub that I actually had some conversation with on here.

condolences to all of those who knew her.

Duchess
