I don't like Julius Jones too much either.
What we need is for the o-line to function so that Deangelo can hit holes more effectively. I hate seeing his talent going underutilised.
And all this talk of WR's is less relevant. We fix the running game - O-line + Deangelo getting 3 to 4 yards per carry, and the passing game will take care of itself. 3/5/2008 9:10:09 AM |

Maybe it didn't have to be julius jones, but they definitely need a RBBC. I bet deangelo gets hurt if he is the lone back. 3/5/2008 9:26:40 AM |

they started off with the black jerseys and the white jerseys...when did they add the blue jerseys, about 5 years ago? i think maybe in another 5-6 years we can add a 2nd alternate jersey...maybe a grey or silver (no homo) 3/5/2008 1:26:58 PM |

Nah I've seen the fake sillver jersey's and thats just not a good dominant color
We're kind of capped out with jerseys because we only have 3 main colors we can work with
Unless we introduce a new color in the next few year, but I can't imagine something that would work with our current scheme without completely altering it 3/5/2008 1:28:48 PM |

Panthers agreed to terms on a 3-year contract with free agent LB Landon Johnson.
Johnson has led the Bengals in tackles 3 of the 4 years he was in the league. Quality signing.

Sweet. If all goes well, we'll have one of the best LB cores in the league....that and CB are probably our only really strong areas. Imo, we do still need another good DT to eat up space so the LB's can have lanes to work with. 3/7/2008 10:13:38 AM |

yea, good signing at LB. I like what the Panthers did this offseason, spending wisely. Now, we need DT depth and OL depth. They should give Barry Sims a 2 year contract and be done with it. 3/7/2008 10:21:16 AM |

Quote : | "We've received several e-mails over the past couple of days regarding rumors that the Carolina Panthers are poised to trade defensive end Julius Peppers.
And so we've actually engaged in a little "real" journalism -- and in some of our good, old-fashioned rumor mongering.
There are rumors in league circles that the Panthers are quietly shopping Peppers. He has a big cap number in 2007, and there's a school of thought that the Panthers aren't willing to pay him what it would take to keep him over the long haul, especially since the price tag could go up if/when the Ravens sign Terrell Suggs to a long-term deal.
But it takes two to do the trade tango, and we've yet to confirm that any of the other 31 teams have been approached about acquiring the No. 2 overall pick in the 2002 draft.
Peppers had only 2.5 sacks last season, down from 13.0 the year before. He had been expected to be in line for a Dwight Freeney-style deal with $30 million guaranteed and a $12 million per year average.
Agent Carl Carey tells PFT that he and Peppers have heard the rumors, but that they have no merit.
"We fully expect that Julius Peppers will be a Carolina Panther this football season," Carey said.
At this point, there's no concrete reason to believe otherwise. But unless and until Peppers signs a new contract with the Panthers, the trade whispers will continue." |

^^^ i doubt that the panthers would really be trying to shop peppers around for a trade unless he has some permanent condition that could explain his down year last year. maybe he has aids .

per rotoworld
Panthers signed RB LaBrandon Toefield to a one-year contract.
If this is the best they can do, DeAngelo Williams will have an easy road to 300+ touches. Toefield, 27, was rarely used in Jacksonville and hasn't averaged over 4.0 YPC in his career. At 5'11/232, he has some short-yardage ability, but won't be a big threat to Williams' carries otherwise. We suspect Carolina will draft another back, though it probably won't happen early. 3/7/2008 6:11:04 PM |
