jesus christ, i don't know the people's last names or what they do when they're not spending 3 months on a freeride in Hollywood. My points about the high school and the baby were just overall general points, and they still stand. I don't give a shit who they actually happened to. All 3 of these people are in the same boat, in the 2 months ago they wouldn't have been noticed walking down the street, but now things such as girls crying when they see them, people rushing to touch them, signing autographs, kissing babies, etc are happening to them simply because they've been on TV for a few weeks

i get worked up about it because it really bothers me how influenced these people can be by what they see on TV or what Fox or American Idol tells them they should believe in.

i know that it doesn't affect me directly or personally, but it is indicative of the whole celebrity obsessed society we've become. And I know this is nothing new - people did the same thing with The Beatles and Elvis, and probably before that.
But what happens on American Idol is bringing that to a whole new level. I mean, at least with The Beatles and Elvis they started from scratch and proved themselves with records over several years. And that's find if David Cook or whoever is going to be the next Elvis, if that's what he deserves. But it's simply absurd that these kids are immediately vaulted into the status of an Idol, as it were, in a matter of weeks because of this TV show. The way mostly teenage girls, judging from the crowds, react to these guys is just ridiculous, and i just feel like slapping them and yelling "STOP CRYING. HE'S JUST A KID, JUST LIKE YOU. GET OVER IT"

Did anyone notice that David Archuletta's performance of "Imagine" and the version they showed on the recap were different?

During the show, he sang the song flawlessly. But when they showed the night's recap, you can definitely hear him butchering one of the last notes ("I hope someday, they JOIN us")

Hmmmmmm.

It might very well be the same version, just not doctored up with the pitch correctors. Still interesting.

Cook took some risks but honestly they think Archuleta is gonna sell records to the teeny boppers. Unfortunately since the winner's album won't drop until around Christmas and by that time the winner is an after thought.

Archuleta is going to win because the producers picked him from the beginning. Cook will have a decent career but he will not be as successful as chris daughtry.

Archuleta will go down like Reuben Studdard and Taylor Hicks a flash in the pan that can only sing one style and it doesn't sell.

Little Archie will make an album entirely of ballads that all sound the same.

And American Idol is a singing competition to a certain extent but its also about finding the biggest star and I think Cook is more comfortable on stage and in the interview room.

I'm not sure why you guys are judging the winner based entirely on the last show. I picked Cook a while ago. Doesn't matter to me that Enchilada did better at the end, and I suspect many others feel the same.

All signs are pointing to Cook as the winner. According to Dial Idols, which has correctly predicted the winner for the last 4 seasons, Cook has a clear lead. I've also seen a few opinion polls putting him ahead. And for what its worth, his video clips on Youtube are usually higher rated and more popular than Acrhie's.

A "Rocker" will never win Idol, closest it got for a true rocker was Bo Bice......Archie has the young girls and the old viewers, Cook has the college students/high school crowd....not enough to carry him over the top...old farts love Archie type songs and that is who will buy his CD and go to his concerts....they will refer to it as "refreshing".

The ZZ Top/David Cook stuff was simply awesome. I thought the duet between the irish chick and the australlia dude was good too. The Pips thing was funny, but I thought with those three, they could've done much more with it.

All in all, that was pretty damn entertaining.
