i never watch the NBA and i watched this game all the way through for some reason.
this finish and the spurs/suns finish when duncan hit the three for double OT were the most excited i've been watching the NBA. only i was happy at the end of the spurs one, sad at the end of this one

lebron is going to be a cav for a long time. and their team is not that bad. yeah he is the reason they are where they are, but he does have a supporting cast. they were in the finals the other year, and obviously had a chance even though they got swept. they just took the number 1 seed to game 7 and almost won. andddd not to mention they only recently acquired the team that they have now, and are still learning to play together. they have excellent shooters and with lebron he makes them open. and if you think about it, the celtics have atleast 2 "lebrons" in the sense where kg used to be the all star on his team, and same with pierce, without either of them of their previous teams, they would of been nothing...and now they are playing together. losing to the number 1 seed in game 7 does not mean their team sucks. 5/18/2008 8:53:45 PM |

I still say LeBron bolts for a big market team, probably Brooklyn, in the summer of 2010. The millions he loses on the contract will be more than offset by the increase in endorsement dollars from playing in a top 5 market. 5/18/2008 8:56:50 PM |

i think theres something to be said about Lebron staying close to home (Akron, OH) and being the man on his team for possibly his whole career...not saying he won't bounce, but if their front office brings in some new pieces next season and continues to show Lebron that they're willing to bring in pieces around him, I think he'll stay...and Lebron is bigger than any market...he's going to get his money from endorsements regardless of where he plays...he just needs his own Garnett/Gasol 5/18/2008 11:00:07 PM |

Dude Cleveland can't bring in any more pieces. No is going to take those garbage players off of them.
Who the fuck would trade for Ben Wallace, Damon Jones, or Wally Serbian?
Even Big Z is a stretch at this point as trade bait.
They are locked into that exact squad for at least another year and probably two. 5/18/2008 11:12:20 PM |

For those who missed the Celtics/Cavs game here is a quick rundown.
Lebron drives, Pierce grabs Lebron's jersey, another Celtic fouls while Lebron shoots, no call.
ball is passed to Pierce, Pierce makes a shot. Celtics win 5/18/2008 11:18:38 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148450 Posts user info edit post |
^^^maybe for one more year...but after next season if they dont re-sign Scerbiak or Eric Snow, they'll free up $20 million...thats enough to bring in a great complimentary player for Lebron
^there were a couple bad calls i thought but thats why you play hard in the regular season for home court advantage...cleveland seemed to be getting the those type of calls when the games were at clevland
somebody tell me right now why its not going to be LA and Detroit in the finals..they're the only teams to win road games this round

San Antonio will pose a bigger problem that NO would in my opinion. SA can definately win one in LA and steal home court away from LA. I hope the Hornets win because I don't care too much for any of the other 4 teams left. 5/18/2008 11:30:18 PM |

The thought of Lakers/Celtics is making the NBA execs ready to blow one on each others chests. It probably would be good for the league because the media would have a field day pimping and covering it...especially if the series went 7 games. The last thing they want is a New Orleans/Detroit series. I wish those two teams the best of luck because they are going to need every bit they can get. 5/18/2008 11:40:22 PM |

I can't believe anyone could even start to argue the calls went the Celtics way. Did you see the "steal" where Lebron mugged Pierce, then grabbed his jersey so he couldn't run after the ball? Or how about the 57 charges that weren't called (with most acvtually being called as blocks).
And to answer your question.... of course Detroit can be beat by Boston. Yes, Boston hasn't won on the road, but they played much better the last 2 games in Cleveland. Boston beat Detroit on the road at least once this year (I'd have to look to see if they did it twice). And lastly and perhaps most importantly, they don't even have to win on the road. I highly doubt Detroit/Boston will be another 4-3 series where the home team doesn't lose, but it could be. I actually think Boston will win in 6. 5/19/2008 1:25:54 AM |

dont sleep on Detroit's experience...they've been there...nobody on Boston's team (that I can recall) has ever played in an NBA finals, let alone won one...if they had that experience it wouldnt have taken them 7 games to beat ATLANTA...cleveland is good so they might've pushed any eastern team to 7, but honestly i expect both conference final series (regardless of if LAL plays SAS or NOH) to go to 7 games 5/19/2008 1:38:39 AM |

One Man's opinion of the Celtics vs. Pistons Match-up Comparison
PG: Rondo ---> Billups
SG: Allen = Hamilton (though Rip has been playing better, I think Ray will bounce back)
SF: Pierce <--- Prince
PF: Garnett <--- McDyess
C : Perkins ---> Wallace
Bench: Celtics <--- Pistons (with the emergence of Eddie House, and the ball control of Cassell, slight Edge to Boston
Coaching: Celtics ---> Pistons (Flip has been there, done that)
Intangibles: Celtics ---> Pistons (will fatigue be an issue? Detroit is well rested and has been in the Eastern Conference finals every year for the past 5 seasons)
Prediction: Though my heart says Boston in 7, my mind says Detroit in 7...unless Ray Allen can get back on track
- As a side note, Wallace and Garnett will likely be defending each other, despite the different roster positions. They will likely offset each other and collect a combined 9 technical fouls collectively
Go Celtics!

Billups is better than Rondo, at least if he is healthy. I agree that the matchup at the 2 is a push but Hamilton has outplayed Allen in the playoffs.
Also you will see a good bit of Garnett on Wallace, as he matches up well. When Billups is out, the offense flows through Wallace and Garnett can limit that.
Some bench role players could be key in this series as well. 5/19/2008 10:24:13 AM |
