^ moron,

The Iraqi's were being asked if we should leave now. Barack Obama says we should start leaving immediatley (his word) and be totally gone in 16 months (aside from a "small" contingent of troops of unknown number). They seem to be talking about the same thing, unless you suppose that the Iraqi's were suggesting we teleport our troops out of the country ala Star Trek.

Now, maybe in 16 months the Iraqis may be ready for us to leave. I hope they are. But that's exactly why we need to stay flexible on these things. Saying we will be out in 16 months, period (as Obama's camapign has said even though they're backing away from it now), is not very productive.

I agree with Obama v. 2006. Setting an artifical time-table for withdrawal impairs our abilities to help the Iraqis now and ties our hands in future. Maybe Obama v. 2009 will be more reasonable than the current version Obama Vista.

"^ Don't put words in the Iraqi's mouths. This poll was conducted only in Feb, so the greatest gains from the surge had already been taken into account. That leads me to believe that the respondents are looking for a total end to the volence in Iraq, not just down to 80% of pre-surge levels as they currently are.

Or are you just saying whatever it takes to get the conclusion you want? Iraq is going to shit, so we should leave. Or maybe it's going so good that we should leave?"

lol no offense, but like what is the end game scenario for you? because it sounds like you are saying if it goes well we should stay, and if it goes bad we should stay

^ my position is not the reverse of your position (apparently withdrawal no matter the circumstances). I think we have a responsibility to stay in Iraq until the Iraqi people have established a stable political power that can maintain security on its own. I would like to see an event-based time-line for withdrawal based on violence indicators and political progress.

If Iraqis want us out sooner, I would be happy to oblige. Indeed, I wouldn't mind it if the issue was put to a vote sometime next year (though I doubt that would ever happen).

Despite my opposition to invasion, my primary motivation for staying is that I believe we owe it to the Iraqi people, but I also believe that a secure and stable Iraqi is in our long-term security interests.

^ you do realize that this only Obama's 2nd trip to Iraq since the invasion, yes?

"Silly old McCain, goofing off while Obama is in a war zone!!!" I wonder what Obama was doing during one of McCain's 8 trips to Iraq that was so important? E-mailing his BFF Scar-Johanson E! tells me. But now I'm sure you'll say that it really doesn't matter.

So what, I've listened to the national anthem without my hand over my heart. OMG TERRORIST. If this was a pledge of allegience it'd be a different matter. This is old news.

I don't seek the presidency on the presumption I'm blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save my country in its hour of need. I seek the office with the humility of a man who cannot forget my country saved me.

lol, all these old war pictures mean nothing in terms of how well he'd suit to take the presidency. Stop linking them...that was before any of us were born so it only makes him seem older dude.

Seeing you link them with zeal and gusto makes me laugh though, becuase that's the only the refuge or leverage you can dig up to give him some imperative to the presidency. Meanwhile America is going to shit and there's much more relevant issues here. That's why he'll lose this November.

Exactly, let's vote for McCain because he was tortured, not because of any of his platform?

If you're pimping him out on that line of thinking then he's a worthless candidate (which he is not, by the way). You should stop trying to promote him, you're actually detracting from him.

haha wow. Kainen started this little tizzy of irreverent propaganda posting and now demand we discuss the issues? hahah sorry.

John McCain has fought bravely for his country in Vietnam. As a US Senator he has led the way on important issues such as Global Warming, Immigration Reform, and Campaign Finance Reform. And as a candidate he proposes a revolutionary solution to America's Health Care problem, while Obama is spouting Democratic talking points from 1993.

JOHN MCCAIN A STRONG LEADER FOR A STRONGER AMERICA!!

Electing a president isn't just about overriding suspician and fear dude.

Obama's been vetted as much as any presidential hopeful in the history of this country nearly, so what you know out there is all the dirt and shit that could have been slung at him. Partially because he's young and so charismatic, partially because he's the first minority candidate ever to be taking seriously for this. His middle name and ethnic background doesn't help him in the suspicion department.

I choose a president because of their stances for one but not just their platform - important are their intelligence, capability to tackle micro and macro-sized problems we face, versatility, and ability to understand what America needs with the correct context. Quite frankly, McCain has a huge and well known temper, doesn't like others to disagree with him with a short fuse, thinks he's right about everything, is slow, old, doesn't know how the internet works and admits he doesn't know the foggiest about computers....I mean shit. You are the president of America until 2012 and you are an idiot with computers and the internet. FUCKING SCARY.
