Let me give you a scenario:
Hidden camera videos reveal four police officers engaging in illegal drug use. Should we:
A. Dismantle the entire police department system across the entire United States, because obviously these four officers are emblematic of every police officer in the entire country.
B. Fire the officers, condemn the actions, and implement stricter policies to prevent such actions from happening in the future.

I'm not trying to defend ACORN. Poor management was exposed, they were embarrassed, and hopefully they will become a stronger institute as a result. ACORN is a massive organization, and they do far more good than bad.
But, your glee that "tax payers were saved" is obviously completely phony, just admit it.
Hopefully, like ACORN has done, you'll reevaluate yourself and become better for it.

what these acorn employees did was wrong. and acorn was stupid not to make sure all their ducks were in a row (especially since other offices had seen this guy unsuccessfully try this stunt before they were successful). but is this more than a few employees fucking up or is it an organization-wide problem? i don't know. but until an investigation clears that up, all that has been proven here is that a couple of their offices have idiots/criminals working there. the united states still does business with haliburton and they misplaced billions in iraq. forgive me for not caring all that much about this nonsense.

you know God, I don't recall you having much of a problem with public perception a year ago when the 24 hours news media was pretty much 100% pro-Obama and anti-Bush and public perception might've gone along more with your ideals
but now that its a negative perception on ACORN, the public opinion is worthless?
and here's something else...and this extends far beyond politics...the court of public opinion is not legally binding like courts of law (this much is obvious)...but the court of public opinion has power...lots and lots of power

You say: Whether that's true, public perception is the opposite.

You respond with the quote above. You've gone from "whether that's true" to "it's silly to dismiss it" when the original claim had nothing to do with public opinion. ^^^God seems to be saying public opinion doesn't matter, its just opinion and isn't necessarily based off whats the truth
If public opinion doesn't matter, then why post a bunch of public opinion polls as evidence of anything? If public opinion doesn't matter, who cares what the PotUS or Congress' approval ratings are? Who cares what percentage of people think Obama was born outside the US or Iraq had WMDs?

Well, I don't think this incident reflects in any way on Obama or liberals or Democrats.
It definitely reflects poorly on ACORN's part.
They should lose their federal funding, look into new mid-level leadership, and consider dismantling altogether if they can't find a way to ensure that all their representatives are working towards the same, good goals. You can't just mishmash a bunch of alienated folks together and call it an organization...cause the crazy ones will fuck shit up for the reasonable folks.

Wheather Right, Middle, or Left, Americans should be happy that these individuals being removed from ANY ORGANIZATION.
It just so happens its ACORN, one that is tax payer funded! Of course political parties are using this for political reasons.....even though ACORN is reportedly non-partisan. It looks like most of you see this in political terms and try to justify accordingly. Might I suggest taking your Huffington Post and Drudge Report political blinders off for a second?

Lets call this attack on ACORN by Republicans what it is:
1) An attempt to score political points for lack of tractability on any substantive policy issue. 2) An attempt to discredit and marginalize an organization that registers low income minority voters, which will work to help suppress reliably Democratic votes in coming elections. 3) An attempt to paint the left as deviant and extreme, while calling their own fringe elements the "voice" of average Americans. 9/20/2009 8:06:03 PM |
