That will guarantee the loser of the title game to Music City:
As we stand now: Orange - VT/BC Peach - GT Gator - Clemson (Had Clemson lost vs. SC, I honestly think we would have landed here, and could have had another parade... fuckin spurrier) Tangarine Champs Whatever the fuck it is now - FSU Car Care - UNC Music City - VT/BC (By rule)
Which leaves Boise, SF, and Washington If Boise or SF chooses Miami (which probably one of them will) then it leaves either Wake (who cant play in Washington bc of rematch) and UMD (whom said they wont play bc of exams)... then one of those schools most likely gets left out, and we go to Washington....
Before you rehash the whole 7 vs. 6 win thing... The NCAA will make an exception on that rule for Wake or Maryland
Thus, my new projection either puts Boise and SF getting stuck with Wake Forest which you know they dont want... or the most likely that Wake Forest gets left for at-large and we go to Washington... I think this is the most likely possibility right now. 12/2/2008 4:13:41 PM |

all the reasons they cited for taking clemson could apply to our program
Excitment over the program, Travel well, etc.
We wouldn't had deserved it, Clemson doesnt either, but it doesnt take much intellect to see that we would have been a very good candidate for that bowl if Clemson was not eligible 12/2/2008 4:20:04 PM |

How the Pack can go to the Eagle Bank Bowl (from SFN w/ACCnow):
http://www.statefansnation.com/index.php/archives/2008/12/02/sfn-bowl-projections/
Quote : | "The following are the two key variables for you to keep monitor that must converge in order for NC State to earn an invite to DC to play Navy:
(1) The Champs Bowl needs to select Florida State over UNC which would push UNC to the Meineke Bowl in Charlotte. If the Champs chooses UNC-CH, then the Meineke will probably pick Maryland to pair with West Virginia for a renewal of a strong regional rivalry that would insure a sellout. Taking Maryland off the board would create a situation where the final three bowls could be filled in a manner that excludes NC State.
(2) The Emerald Bowl needs to choose Miami over Wake Forest in an attempt to draw television interest in a game that won’t be able to attract a large traveling contingent from either program leaving two teams that cannot/will not play in the Eagle Bowl - Wake because they played Navy in the regular season and Maryland because they have pulled themselves from consideration due to exams." |
Quote : | "JP Giglio of the N&O’s ACCNow has a fantastic piece up on their blog that is good news for NC State getting to Washington.
Giglio has sources that indicate the first key domino in the equation is happening — Champs to choose FSU.
This would create and obvious situation where UNC-CH goes to Charlotte and pushes Maryland, Miami & Wake Forest for the ACC’s final three slots.
As we previously stated, the next variable that would have to fall into place for the Wolfpack is for the Emerald Bowl - who had Maryland last year - to pass over Wake Forest and choose Miami." |
c'mon Emerald Bowl.... pick Miami!!12/2/2008 5:24:24 PM |

While I agree with most of what you said, that is false. We lost 3 close games to ACC opponents, all 3 of which came down to the last 2 minutes....2 of which the score was tied.
I have to think that with Nate Irving alone we win 1 of those games, and with Clem Johnson playing the whole season we win the other one as well.
Like I say, for me its not an excuse, but a talking point. I'm fine with 6-6 but looking at the injuries makes next season look kind of exciting.
(I dont care about USF....or Clemson/USC either. Those are the only 3 games we had no shot in)

I am not a tarheel troll.
I went to State. I love State. I know that State has really turned it on in their last 4 games and have been playing quiet well the last 6 or 7 games.
But I am not a delusional homer, what I am saying is 6-6 should not get to go to a bowl game. I know it is just the way it is and I should enjoy it.
What if we would have played that way all year? When is TOB going to put together a full season??
when these things happen then I believe we will DESERVE to go to a good bowl, I just dont think we deserve it this year 12/3/2008 8:46:49 AM |
Motiak All American 1498 Posts user info edit post |
^It's not really fair asking "When is TOB going to put together a whole season" considering we had a redshirt freshman QB starting (who then got knocked out for two games) combined with lots of injuries. Assuming a normal amount of injuries for next year (maybe just 1/4 of our starters this time instead of 1/2), I believe we will have a very good football team. TOB's tenure at NCSU looks like a better version of his start at BC (5-7 and 6-6 in his first two years at NCSU and 4-7 both of his first two years at BC). 12/3/2008 9:03:23 AM |
