Today I learned that these guys pretty much are assholes in real life. The original Sweet Dee was dating Rob when they made the pilot. Rob told her if she stopped dating him she'd be off the show. Things went sour, and the boys kicked her off and replaced her with actress Kaitlin Olson, who Rob eventually married. The official reason was that the original Dee was "too pretty".

i keep giving this show chances to prove its mettle because everyone i know thinks it's side-splittingly funny, and i watched the first few seasons and a few episodes here and there. i just really don't understand why people think it's as funny as they do. i'll smile at a few things here and there, but yeah. it's just hard to understand what everyone sees in it.

the clip of the kid dancing to the yankee doodle remix was what they teased on charlie day's appearance on conan a week or two ago, and i thought it was hilarious then, but i was crying when i saw it in the context of the actual ep.

Sweet Dee's living vicariously through the contestant and the stage song about moms made me laugh pretty hard as well.
