"breadwinner"

...didn't read the thread.

But the whole concept of a breadwinner is bad. It is not a contest.

If you answer "no", you are a worthless sexist piece of shit that doesn't deserve to be loved. No debate. Period.

I have a feeling my fiance will dwarf my salary in the next 10 years. She's in commercial real estate and loves it, whereas I'm in consulting and don't know how long I will be there.

i havent read the whole thread (which i may regret later) but i think this is really situation dependent.

does the guy like what he does? if so and theres just no huge room for advancement then i don't really care. if there is room for advancement and for one reason or another he doesn't want to move forward and it's a legit reason, then so be it.
as long as he's not a deadbeat, i dont really care

disclaimer:
my mom made significantly more then my dad. i mean a lot. so i grew up like this
also most of my cousins are probably gonna be like this too.

we're pretty matriarchal bunch stemming from very patriarchal roots.

my mom has been the breadwinner pretty much my whole life, although before i was born my dad was working while she was in school

i don't think i could go on w/out a job, but i've learned that i'd rather do something i love that may not pay as well versus something i'd hate but it pays great. If i marry someone that makes more than me, if she's cool w/it then i'm cool w/it.

yeahhhh. sooo .... Immma gonnna tell you a lil secret.

I never knew anyone growing up who's mother worked.
unless it was vounteer charity shit.

I think the paradigm of earning roles growing up has alot to do with the acceptance/norm of who earns the most $$
