Agreed, but unfortunately I'm sure there is a huge portion of the people who watch the show that eat up that shit.

And as much I love Jenna Fischer, I think at this point the show is so much better when she is almost a secondary/background character -- though I'd still rather see a storyline with her over the ridiculous and unfunny Erin (but I say that weekly, lol). Michael, Jim and Dwight are by far the funniest and get the best writing still...

V he is a TV/sitcom expert though. Like a regular Ebert of the sitcom genre.

Tonights episode was weak. The fake dump scene made me want to turn off the office for the first time. Did they just give up, or am I the only one who thinks they are going way down hill.

I disagree I thought this episode returned to what made The Office good, finding humor in small things that happen within the office. I thought the episode was very true to all of the characters. One thing I didn't understand was why Andy and Erin were at the dump at the end of the episode.

i thought it was the 2nd great episode in as many weeks, although..... the greenscreen at the dump was embarrassing. What's the budget over there at NBC? And the fight at the dump was probably something that was OK on paper, but ended up being acted and shot like a high school improv class

anyway - no pam/jim/baby drama = good.
And I happen to like Andy and Erin. The "hot/cold" scene was hilarious. Ed Helms and the girl playing Erin are much more dynamic than Pam/Jim, who are/were just a couple of ridiculously hot, mildly amusing people. Andy and Erin have personality and have fun characteristics they can play off of

I didn't hate it but it certainly was nowhere near as good as last weeks IMO. I do like the actual ensemble episodes, though... gives it more of a feel of the earlier seasons when they were always either ALL in the office or ALL out together.

And what was with the OBVIOUS green screen... Are there no dumps in Los Angeles.

^ Eh, I still can't stand them. I think the deal with Jim and Pam is that they both had relatable characteristics to people our age... and didn't have the combined IQ of a table.

the green screen was very distracting

the birds in the background was a cool way to make it seem more real but still i couldn't pay attention because i was looking for where the screen began

See, I like Dwight.

But the Angela and whats-her-name storylines are shit. The baby contract is too far out there, and they've offered absolutely *zero* reason why the other girl should be so into Dwight.

And the 180 by the bartender vis-a-vis Michael came out of nowhere.

Kevin's baby-crying-boobs thing stretched credulity a bit.

That said, Pam in this episode was believable, weird as it was...when new moms finally get released from child care for a bit, my experience is that they are out of touch with reality at first. The attempted gay pairing was amusing in its abject failure. And the Yakuza thing at the end had me rolling.

Edit: ^^The point is that it wasn't a blind date. Or a date at all. Though I agree Jim was foolish.

besides the fact that he slept with her at Jim and Pam's wedding and then blew her off the next day? She's just like every other girl, she hooks up with a guy and when the guy blows her off and acts like a dick she falls for him. Seems like perfectly good reasoning

Actually, from this last episode it seems like they made Isabella out to be a bit quirky as well. She seemed to be a decent match for Dwight, keeping up with his weird conversations.

Michael's reaction to Happy Hour didn't really make any sense.... we've seen him go out to bars (The Dundies, in NYC, other times in Scranton) and have other social/drinking events many, many times. I can see how he would be excited to be asked, but him goign into the bar and acting like this was the first time he's set foot in a place with beer and pool tables with his coworkers was retarded.

And speaking of retarded, the bar manager's 180 when Michael mentioned he was also a manager made absolutely no sense

^Please tell me you're kidding, and if you aren't that you did not actually watch the show.

His attitude at the bar had little to do with happy hour and was predominately the result of being on a "date". This was made obvious multiple times as he continually referred to himself as "date mike".

The bar manager's 180 made perfect sense. They're both managers in an environment where it doesn't matter, yet they regard the position in such high esteem. When he mentioned he was a manager and was writing a book these facts trumped all other behavior due to her self-elevated regard for her position and managing in general.

I was referring to his reaction 1) at the office when he heard they were going out, and 2) when he walked inside the bar he looked like a kid in a candy store, as if he had never been out before with Jim/Pam or anyone else at the office, or as if he had never set foot in a bar. Has nothing to do with "Date Mike" or his actions around Pam's friend.

and yeah, maybe I can see the bar manager empathizing with Michael somehow, but then again, he was just dancing on their pool tables, swinging sticks around like a ninja, and threatening bouncers.... i would think those actions would trump the shared bond of being a manager.

I disagree on both accounts. Michael is always excited when invited out with the team and this wasn't a typical bar, it was a Dave and Busters. In fact, based on what we know about Michael it would be bizarre for him not to react to those two situations the way he did.

Also, how can you say maybe since it is exactly what happened. That is, unless, you meant in real life, but when has this show ever identified precisely with real life occurrences and outcomes.

^yeah that was one of the issues with last night's episode. Every other scene they've had together this season Erin has all but worshipped Michael while he has embrassed having this "sidekick" in the office. Perhaps you can write it off that Michael didn't want to take her to lunch because it was secretary's day and not boss's day, and we all know Michael always wants to be the center of attention.

Wasn't a big fan of Jim and Pam's storyline, they came off very douchey. But other than that i enjoyed it. what i really want to know is WTF!? NO parks & rec!? come on!!!

Haven't watched any of the shows, but 30 Rock was a few episodes back of the other two on the season (though the Office has 2 or 3 more shows than either this season) so it's not a huge surprise P&R didn't come back this week -- I think all four are new through the end of sweeps going forward.

Just saw it.. I actually kind of liked it and that is saying something since I can't stand Erin at all... that was as cringe-worthy as I've seen this season, which is funny to me.

^^ they can be douchy sometimes sometimes but I thought the new guy was being a much bigger douche but they got the last laugh -- trying to act like he has power over the asylum when he has none was pretty stupid.

No show that runs six seasons is ever as good as it was when it started. Just the way it goes. The jokes get stale and the characters run out of places to grow. And really, it hasn't been "as good" since Season 2 but that is nitpicking. For what it's worth, I've enjoyed this season more than season five, but that's just my opinion. I could not have cared less about the dumb art school shit that was like half the season.

I still get laughs out of it and that's all I really care about. After next season sounds about right.

^^ I don't know if you like it, but start watching P&R. A lot of the funny from The Office made it over there. Mike Schur is one of the chief writers and exec producers and that dude is hilarious to me.
