we only have two scholarship QBs on the roster, one of whom has been injury prone

this game is in the bag

any injury to Glennon could potentially be catastrophic later in the season

Well, gg pack. Second Saturday in a row I had an unavoidable commitment that started at the exact same time as the game that's prevented me from listening. Maybe I should look for one for next week.

Our offensive line needs a lot of work. We gave up 4 sacks.

Our defensive line needs a lot of work, too. We only sacked them twice.

we get those underrated guys so we suck in terms of rankings but Ohio State has a team made up of 5 top 3 recruiting classes and probably isn't a top 10 team talent wise.

well the problem with ohio state is that every white guy in recruiting should only have his star count for .8 of a black dudes star

also a kick off specialist shouldnt be especially hard to recruit. you should be able to walk over to the soccer team every year and find a dude who can kick the living piss out of a ball. just have the ST coach spend a couple weeks with him to make sure he doesnt kasay it out of bounds and youre set

course obrien had a fan/student doing FGs his last years at BC so im happy with what we've gotten out of hauschka and czakljsflkjfski so far

I would think Bowen's wont be ready to start until the Duke game at the earliest. He still has to earn the spot.

There are different grades for concussions.

Quote :
"American Academy of Neurology Concussion Severity- March 1997 Practice Parameter:

This system was used by our own Dr. Phalin in his doctoral study of different models for detecting recovery in sports concussions.

Grade 1: __ Transient Confusion
__ No Loss of Consciousness
__ Concussion Symptoms < 15 Minutes
Grade 2: __ Transient Confusion
__ No Loss of Consciousness
__ Concussion Symptoms > 15 Minutes
Grade 3: __ Any Loss of Consciousness, Brief or Prolonged
------------------------------------------------------------
Concussion Severity: R.C. Cantu, 1991 Cantu's system is often used in reasearch involving sports concussions.

Cantu Concussion Severity Grades

Grade 1: No Loss of Consciousness AND Post Traumatic Amnesia < 30 Minutes
Grade 2: Loss of Consciousness < 5 Minutes OR Post Traumatic Amnesia of 30 Minutes to 24 Hours
Grade 3: Loss of Consciousness > 5 Minutes OR Post Traumatic Amnesia > 24 Hours
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ruff Concussion Grades:

Type I :
__ altered mental state or transient loss of consciousness (LOC)
__ 1-60 seconds of post-traumatic amnesia (PTA)
__ one or more neurological symptoms
Type II:
__ definite LOC with time unknown or < 5 minutes
__ 60 seconds to 12 hours of post-traumatic amnesia (PTA)
__ one or more neurological symptoms
Type III:
__ 5 - 30 minutes of LOC
__ more than 12 hours of PTA
__ one or more neurological symptoms
"

Treatments

Quote :
"Treatment
Because a concussion damages the brain, an athlete must be examined by a medical professional before returning to play. Several grading systems have been devised to help team doctors and certified athletic trainers (ATCs) examine an athlete with a sport-related concussion and prevent further, more serious brain damage. One of the most frequently used systems was developed by the Colorado Medical Society and is described here.

An athlete with a Grade 1 (mild) concussion must stop participating. He or she can return to play only if the examiner determines that nervous system function is normal and if no symptoms (i.e., amnesia, postconcussive syndrome) are displayed at rest and with exertion (e.g., running in place) for at least 20 minutes. Because another concussion during the same game is more likely now and can cause further damage, the doctor or ATC may consider barring the athlete from play that day.

After returning to play, the athlete must be examined regularly by the same doctor or ATC throughout competition. If symptoms appear, the athlete must stop competing that day and have a magnetic resonance imaging and a computed tomography (CT) scan to examine the brain.

If the athlete suffers a second Grade 1 concussion in the same game, he must stop playing that day. He or she can return to play only when symptoms have not been present for at least one week. After a third Grade 1 injury, competition ends for the season. The athlete can participate in contact sports (e.g., football, basketball) after three months only if symptoms are not present at rest and with exertion.

An athlete with a Grade 2 (moderate) concussion must stop participating in competition that day and must be re-examined by a doctor the next day. He or she can return to contact sports only if nervous system function is normal and no symptoms are present at rest and with exertion for at least one week.

After a second Grade 2 concussion, the athlete cannot return to play for at least one month and may be barred from play for the season. Suffering a third Grade 2 concussion ends play for the season.

A Grade 3 (severe) concussion is considered an emergency. The unconscious athlete must have the cervical (neck) spine immobilized as a precaution and must be transported by ambulance to a hospital for medical evaluation and a CT scan of the head. The athlete can go home under the supervision of a family member only when the results of the nervous system evaluation and the CT scan are normal. He or she can return to contact sports one month after injury only if no symptoms are present at rest and with exertion for at least two weeks.

After a second Grade 3 concussion, the athlete must stop participating for the season and must consider not returning to any contact sport.

If the athlete continues to have symptoms of postconcussive syndrome, he or she needs to see the doctor again. The doctor may prescribe mild analgesics to relieve some of the symptoms and may work with the athlete to rehabilitate brain function, thought processes, or behavior."

Spencer was definitely hurt, dude made a huge leap and landed on his head. Staff rushed to him and he was spasming/wiggling around after being out cold for several seconds.

I figured it was a dislocated shoulder or collarbone from the way he landed on his shoulder. Guess his head jerked and hit or something though for it to be a concussion.

Spencer was in lala land. One of the more scary things I've seen lately. It happened right in front of my section. He was out cold for about 10 seconds. Then he started kicking his feet and it looked like for 5-10 seconds like he was having some sort of seizure. When they got him rolled over he was fighting the trainers for some reason like he was trying to get up or something.

if you have ever had a concussion or seen one happen up close you know what he was going through

he was out cold for probaby more like a minute, he did the compacted breathing which is normal of someone that is unconcious.

the fighting and leg twitching is from the pain and nerves...it hurts like a bitch...bet he had a terrible night after that. You have to be woken up every hour and your vision is blurred, nausea...it sucks.

he'll be fine in a week

one observation from the game:

willie young is a fucking monster. period. i don't think i'ver ever seen a guy with his size be as fast as he is. i know it was only GW, but they could not stop him at all. he came in untouched one time, tore in and absolutely killed the QB....got a roughing the passer penalty, but it was worth it in my opinion

yeah go watch the WRAL highlights, he slams, bounces like a ragdoll, and is completely motionless and limp after that

I was on the side of the field at that point, we could see his lower back spasming pretty good once he started moving, so we thought he landed on the ball and got the wind knocked out of him, but to see it up close on the video it looked pretty bad
