Baseball Reference tells me he came into tonight with a career batting average of .182. Sounds like he was born to be a part of this team.

I also see that he played for the Braves last year. I have absolutely no memory of this.

Braves are at least showing that they can beat bad teams. I guess that is better than losing to everyone. Good thing they won last night because tonight's matchup is an all but guaranteed loss. Arguably the hottest pitcher in baseball Gallardo, a guy that has owned the Braves, against Lowe, who is a lock to give up 4-6 ER every start in 5-6 innings of sweaty work.

yay! 3 game sweep.. much needed..

looking at the schedule, it is possible we can get on a little bit of a run

3 home vs. Arizona
2 home vs. Mets
2 home vs. Reds
3 at Pitt
3 at Fla
3 home vs. Pitt

We go 11-5 in this stretch (which shouldnt be too hard), we are back in contention for wildcard.

In other news, its total bs that the phils gets 3 extra home games

^ I'd be shocked if we went 11-5 in that stretch. It would be awesome if we did, but given the Braves offense, I just don't see it.

Last night's game was very surprising. Brooks Conrad is going to take Chipper's starting spot. Lowe actually was effective and Gallardo did not pitch a no-hitter. GG to the Braves for sweeping another horrible NL Central team.

Maybe the bats are starting to come around... I know the Brew Crew pitching isn't the best but we have been shut down by some awful pitchers. It seems like Glaus is starting to hit and Hinske has been a nice suprise. Still need someone to come through in the lead off spot.

The bullpen will have to be great and Hanson/Hudson/Lowe will have to go deep into games for us to go 11-5, since Kawakami/Medlin will start in 5-6 of those games.

JJ should make his next start, right?

[Edited on May 13, 2010 at 9:08 AM. Reason : Also, our bullpen has been solid]

^ I think JJ is out indefinitely as he pulled a different part of his hamstring earlier in the week. Some reports I've seen have said that he may not pitch at all in May in order to get him completely healthy. If Medlen pitches well in his absence, then when JJ does come back, KK should be banished to the bullpen where he and Saito can talk in Japanese together.

looking at the NL stats, the Pirates and the Diamondbacks are the only two teams worse than the Brewers in pitching categories. Cincinatti was just in front of them (though they just threw 2 shut outs).

The Brewers are pretty much the best in the NL batting wise (first in runs, hits, RBIs, OBP - top 5 in everything else).

If the Braves can keep the bats hot against some weak Arizona pitching, and the pitching can keep doing what its doing, I dont see why they couldnt take 10+ games in this stretch.

clutch hitting by prado and mclouth tonight. i always find it crappy when a pitcher loses a tie/lead and then ends up with the win....but nevertheless, i'm glad wagner walks away with a W tonight

Good game last night. Medlen definitely is making a case to send Kawacrappy to the bullpen when JJ comes back. Don't see how Bobby can allow KK to continually go out and lose games while Medlen is pitching effectively.

Braves still are hitting like shit, but at least they are getting some solid starting pitching keeping them in the games. Glaus is now on pace to hit about ~25 HRs and drive in 100+ RBIs which I would have never predicted given his horrible start. If he can finish the season at .270, 20 HR, 85 RBIs I'll consider him a good signing.

Also Ike Davis looks like Adam Laroche.

I actually made the Laroche comparison when he was in AA last year. However, I think he'll end up with a much better OBP and slightly better power as well.

you couldnt write a story about Melky Cabrera winning a game any better. missing 2 bunt attempts, unleashing his mighty swinging bunt resulting in a wild throw (or guy not coming off the bag) for the win

^ That should have been scored a hit and not an error on Wright because that was hardly a routine play. Either way though Cabrera definitely failed at getting down the bunt which is frustrating considering that he has done basically nothing to help the team this year. Dude is playing his way to AAA. Schafer should be fully recovered and ready for the bigs again soon if the Braves choose to bring him back up.

Maybe the Braves can trade him back to the Yankees for Vazquez.

^ Yeah KK came through last night with a strong outing. Saito sucked huge balls and then Bobby screwed up letting O'Flaherty face three straight RH batters which led to another run. Wagner gave up the HR, but then pitched out of a jam to earn another win.

Heyward is a pretty amazing hitter to be so young. That Massett guy for the Reds was throwing 98-99 mph and mixing in a curve in the 80s and Heyward calmly got the got full and then smoked a fastball to the corner. Chipper would have struck out on that same pitch.

Prado deserves props too for getting on base in front of Heyward before his big hit.
