Not only was that a huge moral victory, It lets us cruise into the semis since we play the winner of belarus and swiss. Then, if we win we play the czechs or fins. Meanwhile Canada and russia slug it out in the quarterfinals. Can't wait for either crybaby crosby or ovie i'm above the rules to get knocked out without a medal. Should be fun to watch, I'm going to cheer for injuries................

Oh yeah,

Suck it Gregor (statehockey8)

blow me...nice performance yesterday for the americans, though definitely benefitted from some lucky bounces

on the bright side, I found the Canadian bar in NYC - no less than 200 canadians and cheap molson = a little slice of heaven...

LOL at that .gif. I was cracking up when I saw that live.

Ok, I'm getting WAY, WAY ahead of myself. But say Russia takes down Canada in the quarters. Does the US become the "crowd favorite" because of how close the venue is to the states? Or do Canada fans fill it up and root against us?

They wouldn't root against us. Canadians are much higher class than Sabres fans.

^^^is it the Hoser Hut? I heard they had a pretty solid backup generator there, so in the instance the power goes out the lights don't go out...which would be disastrous

Canada is not rooting for us period. During the Norway-USA game, the chants for Norway were deafening. Canada to USA is like us to UNC.

I'm assuming this is sarcasm. They hate the Russians just as much though (Summit Series), so they might support the US. Who knows.

If Russia is the team to knock Canada out then I think Canadians would cheer for us over them.

said the US went with a Rope-a-Dope strategy which was the right call and that Miller won them the game

also complained about Canada not having their lines set in stone 3 games in/Crosby only playing 15 minutes a game

he's still going with Canada winning the tournament

The hockey game on MSNBC received a national household rating of 4.3, the third highest-rated program in MSNBC’s history behind the Democratic Presidential debate (2/26/08, 4.9 rating) and the analysis following the debate (4.4 rating)."

22.416 million average on NBC last night.

BTW the game on MSNBC had a higher rating than Game 7 of the SCF on NBC, and was the 2nd highest rated Olympic hockey game since 1980 (2002 Gold Medal USA vs. Canada was higher).

Luongo will start Canada's first round game.

Lines have been shuffled, top line will be Crosby/Staal/Iginla.
