Hibs were winning today 2-1 but mental lapses in the back and tactical breakdown led to 2 unnecessary goals midway-late in the 2nd half to lose 2-3.

d7 netted 2 goals.

^^^WOW! We scored 3 goals again? How many were for real and not just gimmie indirect kicks, or PKs? I wich I could have been there.

sadly, 2 goals was not enough yesterday.

we had fullvaso. we needed that win to get us into second in the table. i think with our loss we'll drop to 4th. we just scored our go-ahead goal too early (22mins left) and left ourselves too much time for mistakes.

No way, dude.

Okay, so we drop to 4th, but look at some upcoming games:

May 1 - Sasquatch v. Fullvaso
May 15 - Shepherds v. Fullvaso and Sasquatch vs. Hibernian

If Fullvaso pulls off an undefeated season, and we win the rest of our games, that would leave us with the same record as Sasquatch. If we up the goal differential, we can end up 2nd.

I think that yesterday revealed that Fullvaso is not as strong as we all thought.

There's still tons of parity in this league and it could turn out any number of ways.

^^ i just meant for the time being.

^and yeah, they weren't as strong as our 5-1 loss the first game of the season suggested, but we are the only team that has given them a run for their money. hopefully someone can beat them, but a win yesterday would have really opened the league up. too bad we don't play them again. i'd like another shot at them.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I just hope my team can beat Newcastle again and Hibernian. My team only lost 4-1 to you guys. We pretty much were beaten badly by everyone else. We have to play Sasquatch too, so maybe we can do something special too and help you guys out, if you beat us again.

you wont come close to beating hibernian next time. they are starting to look like a B league team. they had fullvaso beaten yesterday but were unfortunate to lose since they dominated them pretty much the whole game

^I don't see how you guys finished 5th in the fall. You have looked better than that all year. We lost 5-3 yesterday to SHW with only 11 guys and the guy playing in goal who was kicked out of goal by the entire team. That is better than the 9-1 loss to SHW in our first game of the season.

the league was quite a bit better last year. newcastle was much more competitive, nappers and royal pains were in the league (both in B league now although RP looks like they should still be in C), and SHW seemed to be a much tighter squad.

we're much improved since last season.
http://www.caslnc.info/casl/Fall09/A_MAC1.HTM

also, last year we had some keeper issues. our keeper basically took the second half of the year off and we rotated various people in and out of the goal (myself included). it was not good. this year we have 2 people dedicated to playing keeper that are actually decent at the position. it's making a big difference and giving us a chance.

This sounds familiar. We had that problem solved and then me and the other guy were out of town yesterday. I'm captain of my team, so I will be signing a gk and a friend of mine who was a defender in high school. We'll get better next year if the right people stay.

I won't disparige the team publicly, but I know they had a large roster. I would imagine that if they needed to cut people, they would cut the weakest links. However, I don't hold any malice.

Our roster might get too big in the fall, so I am not sure what will happen. I can probably fit you on, if people quit.

Oh, and Andy said the goal is 8 teams in each division. Maybe they can start a new house team next year.

Quote :
"TASL players,

In the last week, the office has received match reports with six red cards issued for using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures. This is an indicator that the officials are not tolerating any kind of adult language whether it is directed at the officials or just simply spoken on the field.

The officials are following the FIFA guidelines, and we need to be considerate of our surroundings with families and children often in the area. Even if kids are not around, the officials can and will enforce this rule, and there will be a minimum of a one game suspension.

We have heard several players and captains say that they think the language has actually improved on the field. However, if it is spoken, the officials are carding for it. TASL wants you to be able to play, not sit. So please think it rather than say it!

Thanks,
Donna"

^Yeh I got that e-mail too. Good luck with that. Our refs allow us to use foul language as long as it isn't being targeted at other people. I guess I'll see everyone tomorrow. Hibernian plays ahead of Sporting on the same field. I hear TB Park is nice.

TB #1 is the worst field we've played on all season. It was like playing on a dry sponge. One of the boxes was a sandbox. Just sand. I'm talking Eric Cantona beach soccer sand in your eyes.

We've been lucky a couple of guys never got booked yet for going ballistic on the ref, but no reds in our game either last week.

^We were kind of screwed too. I paid $110 dollars to play in this league and the ref blew his whistle to end the game early. When I looked at my timer that I set for 45 minutes and started when the ref blew his whistle to start the 2nd half, there was still 10 minutes left in the game. NO matter what the score is, both teams paid to play in a league where we play 45 minute halves.

we've all been screwed every game of the season having to play on these shitty fields.

but yeah, i agree with both you guys. matt's goal should have counted and there's no reason to cut a game short. i'm sorry you guys lost 8-0, but there's no mercy rule in soccer and you should get the time you pay for.

^^You should put in a complaint to Andy about that. We've had terrible refs in the past, but there's a difference between being bad and being indifferent. One of the Sasquatch guys was telling the ref at the start of the game to pay attention since he was having a chat with the linesman during play. He got booked for it, but he was 100% right. I know this isn't the EPL, but if you're being paid for a job that sort of makes you a professional. That plus calling the game early like you claim is flat out disrespectful.

On a different note, we sucked ass today. We were not aggressive enough at all on defense and in the second half it looked like we were letting guys waltz right into the box with the ball. Pretty embarrassing.

we scored a late tying goal that was disallowed by a linesman who wasn't paying attention. the head ref even told our players he disagreed with the call that ultimate HE made.

and the linesman felt the need to talk shit to me the entire second half.

most of those guys are a joke.

^^Yeh that sucked when I was playing fullback and ran back to defend and the cross on the ground went through my legs. He got lucky on that. About a second earlier and I would have been moving my right leg forward. The ball would have been deflected. He timed it perfect with my stride. We have work to do now since Newcastle beat an 8 man Fullvaso team. Hopefully next week is a better result for my team!

Hah.

I don't know if "irony" is the right word, but there's some emotion involved when:

-Last week I receive an e-mail that there's not room for me on the team for next season.

-Today I receive an e-mail from the captain stating that he was disappointed that not a lot of people showed up to the last game, a game that I played in.

-Two other people immediately reply to that e-mail saying they'll be out for the next game.

I just hope that if I drew a venn diagram with two circles of "People who are coming back next season" and "People who attended less than 50% of the games this season," there wouldn't be too much overlap.

^That's the problem with adult leagues. You can sign up 25 people and week 1 you will have 14 reserves, but week 2 eleven players will show up because of the flu, funerals, weddings, vacation, work, etc. Then the following week you have 10 reserves again and no one gets to play but 20 minutes. What sucks the most about my team is that the players that need to fail to show up have made it to every game and the players that need to be there to play CM always come late, or can't make it. With my luck, all of the players will come back in the fall that need to stay away next season and all of the good players will quit. elduderino already said he might leave because of a possible job before the end of the year. He's one of our better defenders too!

Actually when I was watching one of your games I think the ref blew the whistle a little early too even though I pushed start on my oven timer right when he blew his whistle to start the half. Then after your injured player took about 2 minutes to get off the field the ref still only played 45 minutes exactly. I guess they don't do injury time. Maybe my digital timer is slow.

I thought that e-mail was kind of funny too. I just hope that they build a 10 foot fence around the complex when it is built so no one can use the natural turf fields unless it is for a league game.

I'd drop an email to Andy or Donna about that.

If there's teams getting fucked over by the refs not playing full halves, then everyone in the league has got a right to complain. It's a compromise of the referee's objectivity in close games, and it's a basic requirement even in blowouts.

^I don't have any real proof and we need to time more games to see if the refs are cutting us short. You guys should maybe time your games too. When we beat Newcastle the reserves were yelling that there was about 1 minute left and then the whistle blew about a little over a minute later, so I guess they time it like they should. I just hope the next 90 minutes for my team is more fun than last weekend.
