If you want more cardio you can come out to Ultimate Frisbee on Monday. We meet every monday @5-5:15 (weather permitting) on the IM fields. We set up big cones and are usually on the upper fields. Bring your running game.

Thursday starting around 6 or 6:30 is usually the big turnout at outdoor courts at Carmichael.

Sometimes there are people there on Tuesday.


No one fights when we play. It's competitive but fun too.

I just moved back to Raleigh and I'm looking for a way to run some semi-competitive games. I pretty much only played at Carmichael when I was a student and never really looked for other areas to play.

Any recommendations on good places to find pickup games? Any leagues that haven't started yet or need an additional player due to low turn out?

I play at the Y about three times a week -- the games are pretty good and competitive, but you have to be a member...

Once Spring rolls around, we'll probably get some outdoor games going again. Personally, my game is almost all jump shot and runner oriented, since I'm short, so outdoor (and horrible rims outside at State) isn't exactly my ideal situation.

What times do you end up playing at the Y? I checked out the Cary (near home) and two Wake Forest (near work) YMCA's when I was looking for a gym specifically to have use of a basketball court. Each place had courts but were pretty much never available for adult pickup after 5. I ended up joining lifestyle family fitness and I'm going to try to check out their locations that have courts next week.

^^^ I play at the organized pickup on Mon/Weds after 6. Some Tues/Thurs I play unorganized pickup games too. There are always games post-6pm at the H'Boro Y...

^ I might be able to do that. Depends on if my date happens or not, but I'm thinking I'm going to set that up for Sunday anyway. I'll post back here at some point tomorrow.
