I don't feel like the offense played terrible, but the lack of hardly any chances on the PP was what killed us. We never could get the momentum to swing our way. Cam played great and that first goal was interference anyway. Staal's chance at the end of the PP that the Cap's goalie snagged out of mid-air with his glove was the best chance we had of beating him all night.

In that case no penalty will be called, but the goal will be disallowed (I believe so anyway)

It's not that clear-cut. As long as the offensive player makes an effort not to make contact and it's outside the crease, it's incidental contact and is allowed. When I watched the overhead replay in the building I was focused on the crease, so I didn't see whether or not Steckel made an effort not to hit Cam.

With all that said, this is the fourth example of this being let go in the past two days...I don't care so much about whether it's a goal or not as much as I care about goalies getting knocked around. The league needs to keep an eye on it.

Guess they decided it was incidental. Idk...tough call, seems like that call could go either way depending on the night.

Just watched it again, looks like Cam initiates the contact. Ref washes out the contact immediately, too, so it was pretty clear in his eyes.

From a goaltending perspective, that's the right play because Steckel is looking for a tip and the best way to cut the angle is to basically drape yourself on him. Unfortunately, being outside the crease, there's no protection from exactly what happened.

Same thing that Brodeur was so pissed about on Jokinen's big playoff tip two years back.

^No, we have too many puck moving defensemen. He's not defensively reliable enough, though if it meant we send them Jay Harrison, sure I'd do it just so we don't have him anymore (Bruins shed about 1 million on the cap, so that helps them keep someone when their injured players return.
